Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced mountain climate Golf Couse Superintendent to oversee and manage landscape and groundskeeping operations. The ideal candidate will be a ble to communicate in Spanish and have extensive experience in Toro irrigation, mountain turf management, and training a seasonal staff.
Responsibilities:
- Ø Aids the Director of Agronomy with preparing and maintaining the annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans.
Ø Plans, organizes directs, and performs related tasks to the timely minimization of winter turf damage including but not limited to:
o Elk Damage
o Mechanical/machine damage
o Vole damage
o Desiccation (turf loss from drying out)
o Ice damage
o Snow Mold
Ø Safely operates snowcat and snowmobiles to pack, monitor, and groom the course during winter operations.
Ø Plans and directs proper winterization of the golf course including and fencing, tarping, end-of-season agronomy practices, and chemical applications.
Ø Maintains a working knowledge and provides recommendation on the agronomy programs associated with management of the specific water, soil, and turf types of the course.
Ø Operates and maintains irrigation pressure relief and reduction valves.
Ø Operates and troubleshoots pumps and motors associated with the golf course as well as pump transfer lines for the property.
Ø Oversees and repairs broken water lines, heads and valves.
Ø Communicates with Director of Agronomy, Director of Golf and Head Golf Professional to discuss conditions of golf courses, maintenance plans and scheduled events.
Ø Plans and executes a thorough and agressive spring turf recovery plan including sodding, seeding,plugging and fertilizing of damaged turf.
Education/Experience: Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or three to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience (Degree preference in agronomy/ horticulture/ plant/soil science).
Physical Demands: Regularly stands, walks and sits. Regularly uses hands, reaches with arms and hands, talks or hears. Occasionally climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, crawls, tastes or smells. Regularly lifts up to 50 pounds. Occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds.
Environment/Noise: Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, fumes and/or airborne particles. Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions. Noise level is moderate.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $76,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
