Full-Time Teaching Assistant
The Indy Lab is a licensed high-quality and progressive play-based nursery and preschool program that has recently added a program with Shake it Off at their Scarsdale location. We serve students between the ages of 3 thru 5 for a half-day program that follows a school schedule. The Indy Lab's curriculum is based in developmental science that suggests that using a combination of guided play and free play (or together called Playful Learning) builds abstraction, critical thought and imagination through community, respect, and independence among our students. We have curated our curriculum to create a weekly lesson plan based on a letter sound and theme of the week.
We are hiring for a strong full-time Teaching Assistant to facilitate classroom management by setting up and breaking down classroom spaces as well as thoughtfully curating the required interest areas in each room. Separately, the Teaching Assistant is tasked with managing student behavior during the school day and facilitating the Head Teacher with specific needs in the classroom.
At The Indy Lab, we follow the Department of Health's Early Learning Outcomes Framework (ELOF) goals across the five areas of development: physical/motor, language/literacy, cognition, social-emotional and approaches to learning. Our lesson plans are originally created and curated to target these goals across all our cohorts. We then use these goals to discuss a student's progress during parent conferences. We meet with parents 3x/year during conferences.
Our morning schedule is composed of our three core segments: Playful Literacy, STEM and Drama and our afternoon is based on uninterrupted free play and outdoor/active play.
