Job Summary:
The Service Advisor acts as the liaison between customers and the service department, ensuring that customers receive timely and accurate service for their vehicles. This role involves assessing customer needs, scheduling appointments, providing detailed cost estimates, and coordinating with technicians to ensure the efficient and effective completion of service work. The Service Advisor is pivotal in maintaining customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Interaction:
- Greet customers promptly and courteously upon arrival.
- Listen to and understand customer concerns, documenting them accurately.
- Provide clear and detailed explanations of services and repairs needed, as well as estimated costs and timelines.
Service Coordination:
- Schedule service appointments and manage the service workflow.
- Coordinate with technicians to relay customer concerns and ensure work is performed to specifications.
- Monitor the status of vehicle repairs and keep customers updated on progress and any changes.
Sales and Upselling:
- Identify opportunities to upsell additional services and products based on customer needs and vehicle conditions.
- Explain the benefits and features of recommended services to customers.
- Achieve sales targets and contribute to the overall profitability of the service department.
Documentation and Record-Keeping:
- Prepare accurate and detailed service orders, estimates, and invoices.
- Maintain comprehensive records of services performed and parts used.
- Ensure all documentation complies with company policies and industry regulations.
Customer Follow-Up:
- Conduct follow-up calls to ensure customer satisfaction with services provided.
- Address any post-service issues or concerns promptly and professionally.
- Foster long-term customer relationships to encourage repeat business.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in automotive technology or business is a plus.
- Previous experience as a service advisor or in a similar customer service role within the automotive industry is a plus.
- Strong understanding of automotive services and repair processes is a plus.
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to explain complex technical information in a way that is easily understandable to customers.
- Proficient with computer systems and software used in the service department.
Other Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
Working Conditions:
- Work primarily within the service department.
- Regular interaction with customers, technicians, and other service team members.
- Exposure to automotive shop environment, including noise, fumes, and moving mechanical parts.
