Testing Technician

JOB SUMMARY:
Testing Technician under supervision, performs basic duties to include inspection, maintenance, and basic repair of all firearms. Performs quality control inspections and ballistic functional tests within the Armory and Shooting Lab. Records observations and consolidates data. Performs safely in a live range environment, both indoor and outdoor in all environmental conditions. Moves heavy equipment associated with pressure and velocity materials, personal protective equipment, firearms, and crew-served weapons.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Follows safety precautions and procedures related to firearms, ammunition, and live fire testing.

Performs inspections, checks, and tests, including live fire, of products during various stages of the manufacturing process.

Inspects, diagnoses, maintains, repairs, cleans and services firearms associated with testing.

Responsible for inventory control of all firearms.
- Maintains inventory and storage of ammunition.

Upholds the supply and condition of firearm cleaning supplies, range apparatus, and safety equipment.

Creates and provides accurate records.

Reads and interprets technical manuals to facilitate the use, inspection and servicing of all equipment including instrumentation.

Observes safe work methods and makes appropriate use of related safety equipment as required.

Organizes own work, sets priorities, and meets critical time deadlines.

Performs other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Firearms experience through military, law enforcement, or a higher level of education and training such as a ballistics lab, or firearms testing facility, or several years of experience in a firearms industry relating to the function of ammunition and firearms.

Crew-served weapons experience.

Precision Rifle experience.

Technical skills related to maintaining instrumentation.

Basic record keeping principles and procedures.

Basic computer applications related to the position.

Troubleshoot and determine appropriate action in the maintenance and repair of firearms.

Basic mechanical skills. Operation and maintenance of a variety of hand and power tools.

Interpret, apply, and follow department policies, procedures, and regulations.

Understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Make accurate arithmetic calculations.

Effectively communicate in person, over the telephone, and in writing.

Use tact, initiative, prudence, and independent judgment within general policy, procedural and legal guidelines.
Bonus Experience: Precision Rifle Shooting, Re-Loading, Armorer, Gunsmith, Avid hunter.

Physical Demands:
Sitting, standing, and walking (up to continuously); frequent use of computer and telephone requiring repetitive finger, hand, and arm movement; occasionally carry office supplies and other miscellaneous items up to 50 pounds. Continuous use of seeing, hearing, verbal communication.
