Major/Essential Functions
Register and schedule patient appointments for office visits accurately/efficiently in EMR and billing system.
Proper and ethical telephone skills when scheduling appointments and/or directing and providing necessary information needed.
Verify and update managed care plan and/or insurance information into patient account.
Accurately scan all necessary documentation into correct file folder in EHR.
Cashier and prepare daily deposits. Responsible for collecting patient’s co-payment, payment for services rendered, and outstanding balances.
Daily reporting following each clinic session of arrival and no-show appointments for End of the Month Statistical departmental report.
Provide cross-training to staff within different clinic areas in registration and processing of patients, or in any other job-related duties.
Verify, update and optimize patient schedule daily.
Adhere to all TTUHSCEP policies, procedures and processes.
Personally demonstrate, display, and act in accordance with TTUHSCEP’s values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork). Actively promote and encourage staff across the institution.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
A High School diploma or GED
1 year Customer Service, office, or related experience
Additional education may substitute for the experience requirement
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of basic office equipment and computer skills; email, PC, Telephone, 0-Key, Excel, Word
Knowledge of various managed care plans and private insurances
Knowledge of referral and authorization processes
Proficient professional telephone skills
Ability to interact effectively and efficiently with others
Ability to work in a busy environment
Ability to understand and follow instructions; some familiarity with dental procedures
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a variety of people
Work closely with staff, manager, supervisor, dental students, and administration
Bilingual capability. English and Spanish
Willing to work M-F 0800-1700, some extended hours and holidays are possible
Minimal one year dental office experience and working knowledge of dental billing codes (CDT) preferred
