JC Wallace Place is seeking a full-time SUD Counselor to join our team!
Job Description:
Responsible for managing multiple clients and their individual needs with regards to substance use, harm reduction, and associated legal requirements. Their duties include meeting with clients 1:1 when individual SUD treatment is indicated, as identified by the Clinical Director. The incumbent will complete an assessment for all referred clients and, with the Clinical Director, decide if their treatment will be comprised of groups/individual work, both, or alternative treatments offered at A&A. Incumbent will discuss recent successes or setbacks to a client’s situation, develop SUD treatment plans for clients with mental illnesses or clients recovering from traumatic events, and frequently communicate with clients to ensure their physical and mental health. Regular reports to court, conservator, CONREP, or other providers will be an expectation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Assist in the daily needs of patients including the participation in interdisciplinary team treatment plans.
· Provide observation, ongoing assessment and therapeutic intervention consistent with physical and psychological status.
· Provide clients with individual and group SUD treatment in order to achieve recovery goals.
· Participate in the treatment/care plan, initial assessment, level of care considerations, and ongoing SUD support as needed.
· This role requires availability on Saturday and Sundays, 9am-5pm.
· Will keep an individual caseload, not to exceed 20 clients at any given time. Supervisor will support the management of this caseload. All clients on caseload must be dealing with SUD problems.
· Provide 2 hour long groups both Saturday and Sunday, with each group’s capacity not to exceed 15 clients. Groups should follow the STOP (Substance Treatment Outpatient Program) model.
· Support clients and leadership with utilizing Harm Reduction principles when relapses occur, ensuring continued destigmatization of substance use, and providing necessary treatment to reduce use in the program community.
· Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
Skills:
- Ability to work well in a team environment while maintaining control of the caseload.
- Strong ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal with adults, and staff members on a daily basis.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with parents, guardians, guardians’ friends, and family members through open communication channels such as phone calls, email, and live video conferencing (when available).
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office products (Word processing, spreadsheets, etc.).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.84 - $27.51 per hour
