The English Language Center (ELC) has been dedicated to providing English programs of the highest quality to international students since 1978. By employing highly qualified and dedicated instructors and by utilizing a dynamic and comprehensive curriculum, ELC provides the perfect environment for rapid language improvement. ELC also offers students extensive support services to ensure that their stay in the United States is culturally as well as educationally enriching.
ELC’s Junior Programs welcome over 800 international students between the ages of 11-17 every summer and operate out of 3 campuses across the country:
University of California, Los Angeles (July 1st - August 9th - excluding July 4th)
Our summer programs give students the opportunity to study English in the summer and have fun with other international students at UCLA. Offered during July, and August our summer junior programs provide students with a 20-lesson per week Semi-Intensive English Course, on-campus accommodation, and daily activities. We are looking for enthusiastic employees who want to gain valuable experience in international education and youth development.
Role Description
The Junior Program Entrepreneurship Teacher reports to the Director of Courses to ensure the smooth and positive running of the academic portion of the Junior Program, specifically the Entrepreneurship Course. The primary functions of the teacher are to impart entrepreneurship principles to students, encourage teamwork and communication amongst students, and to foster students’ self-esteem and motivation. This position can expect to work with students ages 11-17 from a variety of international destinations. Junior Program Entrepreneurship Teachers should be knowledgeable, resourceful, and flexible to meet the needs of our diverse student population.
For a small group of self-selecting students, ELC is offering an "Entrepreneurship" course that will replace typical ESL classes in the morning. This program will only be open to students whose English level is sufficient to begin coursework in English, rather than to continue learning the language. The Entrepreneurship Program will combine academics, training games, and projects to help students understand the ecosystem of a business and how leadership impacts success. The students in this program must develop a business plan that they will present at the end of the two-week course. The instructor will teach to the appropriate lesson plans, materials, and teaching guidelines, which will already be developed prior to the summer. The course is taught in 2-week sessions, two 95-minute sessions a day, five days a week, from 9:00 to 12:30.

Entrepreneurship Teacher Responsibilities
Duties of the Entrepreneurship Teacher include but are not limited to:
- To meet regular attendance requirements.
- Maintain a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning.
- Establish a cooperative relationship with all assigned students.
- Follows guidelines and curriculum to achieve the overall purpose of the program.
- Abide other directives as assigned by the Director of Course.
Expectations of the Entrepreneurship Teacher include:
- Teaches principles of Entrepreneurship as assigned by the Director of Courses
- Prepares thoroughly for classes and arrives on time
- Assigns homework when necessary
- Grades and returns assignments to the students in a timely manner
- Follows and supports ELC policies and responsibilities
- Represents ELC in a positive and professional manner to students, colleagues, and school visitors
- Is accountable for all class sets, resource materials, and other ELC property taken from the Director of Courses office
- Cooperates with other faculty and staff members by sharing ideas, information, and materials
- Prepares and presents course content in keeping with ELC’s Entrepreneurship curriculum
- Maintains respect for work environment and keeps standard of orderliness and cleanliness in classrooms and teachers’ room
- Attends scheduled Teachers’ meetings, trainings, and workshops
Other duties to be determined by the Director of Courses throughout the program
This position is a part-time, temporary position with a schedule of Monday-Friday. Classes are taught from 9AM-12:30PM.
