Description
The Staff Accountant is responsible for overseeing general accounting operations by controlling and verifying our financial transactions. They are responsible for the direct supervision of all accounting functions for the organization including maintaining strong internal controls to ensure the accuracy of reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger, overseeing financial reporting, managing accounts payable and accounts receivable, fixed assets, policy and procedure development, cash management, and preparing month-end close procedures. A successful Staff Accountant should have excellent analytical skills with thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts while ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all accounting tasks.
Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee and manage the accounting functions for the organization, including but not limited to general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and labor accounting, and fixed assets.
Manage general ledger accounting functions and month end close.
Perform monthly account reconciliations, schedules, and analysis.
Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results.
Analyze financial information and summarize financial status.
Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending.
Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process.
Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule.
Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance.
Support month-end and year-end close process.
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements and internal management reports.
Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested.
Manages and complies with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements, tax filings and GAAP principles.
Work with external auditors and tax preparers on annual returns and filings.
Minimum Qualifications and Skills Required
5+ Years of progressive accounting experience
Through knowledge of US GAAP
Excellent verbal and written communications abilities across all levels of an organization
Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables. Experience with other financial systems like QuickBooks and other accounting software.
Accuracy and attention to detail.

Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
In a 12-hour work day: standing/walking up to 12 hours per day
Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting and reaching
Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
You must have the ability to use tools and equipment required for the position
Mental Focus: Ability to read and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
