Veterinary Technician Assistant
Clinic Hours: Rehm Animal Clinic at Timber Run is open 7am - 6pm, M-F and 7am- 12pm on Saturdays.

Total Compensation Package Incudes:
- $13.00 to $17.00/hour ** Pay rate is based on experience. Pay could be more, if skill sets are demonstrable at expert level and/or a Licensed Technician with proven skill set.

Job Summary:
The purpose of this position is to assist veterinarians with patient care and treatment, monitor hospitalized pets, maintain inventory, prepare prescriptions, perform routine in-house lab work, educate clients regarding veterinary care and procedures and assist with surgical procedures. Blood draws, teeth cleanings, surgery monitoring.
Job Functions:
- Administrative tasks — client communication, making appointments, and taking payments.
- Record histories and communications obtained from owners
- Assist veterinarians in appointments; restraint for cats and dogs
- Record patient vital signs; TPR, weight, MM/CRT
- Administer medications (PO, IM, IV, etc.) and other patient treatments.
- Perform venipuncture and place IV catheters.
- Obtain patient radiographs (Dental and Non-Dental).
- Perform in-house laboratory tests — CBC and blood chemistry, urinalysis, ear cytology, and skin cytology.
- Monitor anesthesia
- Perform canine and feline dental cleanings.
- Educate clients about various aspects of animal health such parasite preventions, vaccine protocol, and sterilization of pets.
- Maintain patient records using EzyVet practice management software.
Qualifications
Proven experience in:
- Demonstrating knowledge of veterinary practices, procedures, and terminology;
- Appropriately handling and restraining animals;
- Reading medical charts and record procedures and treatments;
- Demonstrating basic knowledge of medications and their side effects;
- Professionally and compassionately addressing each client’s needs
- Ability to multi-task and juggle multiple work streams (change gears quickly) while setting/managing priorities and providing consistent follow through.
- Communicate in a clear, concise, understandable manner;
- Effective listening skills and an eye for quality, accuracy and attention to detail
- Individuals must be highly motivated and self-driven to excel in a dynamic, demanding and high-performance culture. Passionate to contribute and do what it takes to get things done.
