We are looking to hire an enthusiastic director of development to secure financial support for our non-profit organization. The director of development will set and achieve fundraising goals, maintain knowledge of fundraisers' interests, and cultivate relationships with fellow employees and volunteers. You will be an active participant in fundraising events, undertake vision trips, and maintain a social media presence.
The successful applicant will build lasting relationships with donors, and keep them informed on how their financial input is making the world a better place. Preferred candidates will be self-motived, deadline-driven multitaskers.
Position Responsibilities:
· Identify and solicit major donors and donor relationships.
· Identify and solicit grant opportunities.
· Source and manage grant submission process.
· Coordinate and execute fundraising events.
· Establishes short- and long-range goals and enlists support from staff and volunteer organizations.
· Organizes direct mail campaign to reach potential contributors.
· Directs donor recognition programs.
· Organizes solicitation drives for pledges of ongoing support from individual donors.
· Assists in solicitation drives for pledges of ongoing support from corporations and foundations.
· Informs potential contributors of special needs of institution, and encourages individuals, corporations, and foundations to establish or contribute to special funds through endowments, trusts, donations of gifts-in-kind, or bequests.
· Confers with attorneys to establish methods of transferring funds to benefit both donors and institution.
· Researches public and private grant agencies and foundations to identify potential sources of funding for research, community service, or other projects.
· Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in maintaining records of contributors and grants and preparing letters of appreciation to be sent to contributors.
· Negotiates agreements with representatives of other organizations for exchange of mailing lists, information, and cooperative programs.

Education and/or Experience:
Four year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of Contact Management systems; Database software and Project Management software.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Product Suite.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with variable hours including evenings and weekends as needed.
Ability to travel within the Greater Houston Region and the physical ability to move about the program properties in various environmental conditions.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk and sit.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
