3+ years of defense litigation, medical malpractice A MUST
Assist attorneys to prepare documents for legal matters such as amendments, partnerships, briefs, withdrawals, complaints, pretrial orders, etc.
Compile litigation and billing information for preparation of responses to auditors’ request
Assist attorneys in carrying out preparations for trials, hearings, and closings by embarking on legal research
Perform administrative duties which involves answering phone calls, filing papers, organizing clients’ files composing and sending emails and legal documents
Research legal matters to determine precedence or to help build a case
Draft legal documents, including affidavits, subpoenas, motions, contracts, complaints, briefs, and deposition notices
Create correspondence
Arrange client appointments
Submit documents to state and federal courts
Summarizing cases and preparing reports for attorneys
Conducting research, investigating facts and developing legal arguments
Preparing and filing documents with courts
Organizing and archiving the documents related to completed and ongoing cases
Keeping track of changes in legal framework and providing timely updates on these changes
Skills required
- A minimum experience of two years in a paralegal role
- Investigative mind and strong research skills
- Working knowledge of legal database software Time Matters
- Experience in preparing legal reports
- Excellent communication and time management skills
- Perform legal and factual research
- Perform research of records
- Identify relevant judicial decisions, statutes, legal articles, codes and other pertinent material
- Organize and analyze information
- Cross-check and validate information
- Prepare written reports
- Draft legal documents including briefs, appeals, wills, contracts and legal agreements
- Help prepare legal arguments, applications, declarations and motions
- Prepare correspondence
- Check legal forms and documents for accuracy
- Organize and track case files
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $72,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
