The Admissions Registrar processes all patients that enter the Hospital for all services. This task consists of interviewing the patient and/or family member(s). The Registrar will also obtain the patient’s demographic and financial information and enter this information accurately into the Hospital’s computer system.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of one (1) year of admission registrar and medical terminology experience.
- Type 45 wpm and have a good working knowledge of computers.
Responsibility Highlights
- Greet and interview the patient/family member(s) in a courteous and professional manner.
- Obtain and copy the patient insurance card and identification.
- Identify patients with a previous history and do not cross reference new patient information with previous patient information.
- Check the eligibility of the patient’s insurance through the insurance verification system.
- Obtain signatures on consent forms and policies given to patients through handouts and educational materials.
- Explain Hospital polices regarding insurance, advance directives, smoking, valuables, and telephone usage.
- Have the ability to assess emergency situations and the ability to report situations to the appropriate person(s).
- Work in all areas of admitting and registration: Outpatient, Emergency Department, and Inpatient admitting.
- Properly documents information on logs, cardex, and mortician’s receipt book.

Pay: $18.85 - $20.35 per hour
