Position Summary
The Culinary Director is responsible for leading the nutrition and residence experience efforts, providing vision, leadership and strategic guidance to the company in these areas. Ensures that Quest vision, values and founding principles are effectively communicated and practiced. Manages assigned company locations and employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary purpose of the Culinary Director position is to assume responsibility for planning, organizing, developing and directing the overall operation of the Dietary Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing our facility.
- Assure that quality nutritional services are provided on a daily basis and ensure that the dining services department is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner.
- Manage on-site dining services management staff to achieve operating efficiencies in quality of service, food and beverage, resident satisfaction and financial performance.
- Maintains quality dining services within the prescribed budget. Maintains inventory of food and nonfood items. Makes frequent inspections of all work, storage, and serving areas to determine that regulations governing food safety and sanitation are followed.
- Oversees the food preparation and cooking, to ensure meals are prepared per company procedures. Determines quality and quantity of food required; plans menus and controls food costs; may be scheduled to prepare meals.
- Prepares cleaning schedule, production worksheet and staff schedules.
- A minimum of 2 to 3 years’ experience in a supervisor capacity in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility or other related medical field is required.
Successful candidate(s) must have demonstrated ability to understand and determine priorities, effectively manage time and develop work plans in order to accomplish tasks and/or projects. Ability to maintain professionalism and a positive attitude in the workplace along with keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills are a must.
Other Requirements Include:
Food Service Certified
- Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics or Nutrition or equivalent work experience
- Successful completion of an accredited Dietetic Internship program
- Three years of experience in food service management
- Experience in developing and managing budgets
- Experience in food safety leadership within a food service or restaurant environment
- Experience in building and leading a high performing team
- Clinical Dietetics experience is desirable, along with experience in nutritional counseling and education
- Strong knowledge of the food service and hospitality industry
- Responsible for meeting and maintaining state and local certification requirements (Food Service Manager)
- Comfortable and pleasant demeanor in very busy environments
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Ability to read, write and speak Spanish a plus!!
