School Delegating RN
Full time - 80 hours bi weekly - 10 Months
M-F 8-hr daytime shift
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Delegating nursing functions to unlicensed School Health staff in accordance with the Maryland Nurse Practice Act. Oversees the performance of delegated nursing tasks and contributes to the performance evaluations of assigned CMT/CNAs. Identifies the health care needs of specific student populations and the availability of health services and resources; plans and implements services to meet those needs; assesses the effectiveness of the health care plans; and collaborates with a wide variety of professional disciplines in the promotion of wellness for students. Provides preventative health services to facilitate the student’s optimal physical, mental, emotional, and social growth and development. Responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating and evaluating the health services of assigned schools to maximize the quantity of in class time by reducing the incidence of health related absenteeism. Identifies problems and disabilities and provides such services as case management, health education, referring to health sources, and direct care in order to help prevent serious health problems that would later be more difficult and costly to address. Functions independently under state and county guidelines and policies.
Education - BSN preferred, Certification in School Nursing preferred.
Experience - 2 years as a Registered Nurse, School Health Experience Preferred.
Licensure/Certification - Current license to practice as Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland, or if resident of a state that participates in Nurse Multi-State Compact agreement, holds Registered Nurse License from that state that is designated as "Compact" or "Multi-State Privilege" using primary source verification and provides additional documentation as required by the Maryland Board of Nursing. RN License from a compact state with a designation of "Single State" does not meet the requirement and nurse must obtain a Maryland license. Certification in CPR and First Aid required. Valid driver's license and current automobile insurance required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - Must be able to successfully multiple tasks, projects and responsibilities. Ability to apply critical thinking in rendering solutions to various issues. Ability to appropriately and effectively communicate with students, parents, administrators and other school personnel.
