Summary: The Assistant Director performs a wide variety of tasks which are broad in scope, and involve many complex and significant variables. Assistant Director works according to standard agency policies and procedures and standard practices of the profession, exercising considerable independent judgment to supervise and direct assigned personnel, implement programs efficiently with limited resources and solve problems. Assistant Director makes a substantial contribution to the agency's mission by developing and supervising services while ensuring compliance with state, federal and agency rules and regulations. Assistant Director works with minimum supervision, referring to supervisor unusual or unprecedented situations. Assistant Director works in conjunction with the Director to determine priorities and schedule, with work reviewed for soundness of judgment and appropriate supervision or direction of assigned operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain compliance with all regulatory bodies.
Ensures processes and procedures within the department comply with State, Medicaid, and Waiver regulations.
Ensures accurate and proper documentation of services; ensures that services adhere to regulations.
Trains, assists and directs supervisory personnel in preparing for local, state and federal reviews.
Develop a workforce that fosters working through a continuum of services.
Supervises assigned personnel, including interviewing, hiring, orienting, training, disciplining and terminating, reviewing and approving work schedules. Shall perform duties of absent personnel as needed.
Adheres to Easter Seals Arc Human Resources and EEO/AA Policies and performs other duties as assigned.
Trains others in person centered program development, including behavioral, social, cognitive, daily living, communication, and life planning.
Regularly completes home visits to interact with staff and people supported. Together with Director will complete home visit for each site at least once per quarter.
Manage and generate agency resources consciously and responsibly.
Regularly reviews policies and procedures and proactively seeks to combine tasks into efficient workflow to get more out of fewer resources.
Determines appropriate staffing needs.
Responsible for monthly medication exchange and follow up on medication
Responsible for ensuring completion of Corrective Actions within the department.
Build community relationships and awareness through innovation and quality improvement.
Serves as a liaison between Easter Seals Arc and community/region/state organizations and agencies.
Reviews programs regularly and recommends changes as appropriate.
Assists department Director in developing an annual plan for the program areas and participates in agency planning process.
Ensure services provided are individualized.
Collaborates with other Department Directors to provide an individualized and holistic approach to services offered.
Responds to crisis situations immediately and appropriately, participates in open on-call, provides crisis intervention assistance.
Establishes and maintains effective relationships with participants and other stakeholders.
Gathers and evaluates feedback from participants and other stakeholders; recommends changes as appropriate based on feedback.
