Position Summary :
The Jr. Designer is responsible for successfully executing on various marketing projects while driving elite brand perfection. The Jr. Designer must be proficient in producing graphics, retouching imagery, and preparing final design files in Adobe CC for both print and digital media. The right designer will possess an eye for detail, a good sense of color, typography, and imagery. A high standard for quality control is a must.
In addition, the Jr. Designer will help guide creative content strategy on NorCal’s behalf, including video, audio, and photography.
Responsibilities / Essential Functions:
- Assist in executing design solutions as identified by the Sr. Manager, Design, while leaning into brand guidelines and aligning with the organization’s strategic plan.
- Support the Brand Marketing team in producing Special Olympics NorCal's umbrella brand campaign, as well as Health & Wellness, Sports, Schools, and Athlete Leadership brand pillar-extensions, and related Sponsorship Marketing assets; support brand projects via channels like social media graphics, editing & producing videos, email marketing assets, web banner ads, PowerPoint presentations & one-sheets, personalize employee assets, and print collateral, such as event signage, flyers, brochures, postcards, apparel, auto wraps, & more.
- Support the Event & Sponsorship Marketing team in producing Event collateral promoting Fundraising, Sporting, Health & Wellness, Schools, and Athlete Leadership initiatives, and related Sponsorship Marketing assets; support event & sponsorship projects via channels like social media graphics, editing & producing videos, email marketing assets, web banner ads, PowerPoint presentations & one-sheets, personalize employee assets, and print collateral, such as brochures, flyers, postcards, event signage, apparel, auto wraps, & more.
- Revise and update existing design deliverables and apply to new formats (social media graphics, photos, videos, email marketing assets, web banner ads, PowerPoint presentations & informational one-pagers, personalize employee assets, and print collateral, such as brochures, flyers, postcards, event signage, apparel, auto wraps, etc).
- Assist in print production (Brand, Event Marketing, & Sponsorship Marketing).
- Package and preflight all production files according to exact specifications.
- Correct all inconsistencies and mistakes in the art file before its release, including typesetting and correcting vector artwork; photo retouching and color adjusting in Photoshop, image resolution, and output settings.
- Archive assets (brand materials, video & photography.)
- Retouch photography (high-end) in Adobe Photoshop.
- Consult with the Marketing team (interdepartmental communication) and be able to multi-task regularly to ensure proper task prioritization.
- Work with third-party vendors to:
o Go to print / produce.
o Ship / deliver / install.
o Establish / explore new vendor relationships.
- Execute all of the above while ensuring brand compliance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills, & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, related discipline, or substantial relevant work experience.
- A familiarity with sponsorship sales & marketing and respect for revenue generation.
- Intermediate proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud apps (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat, etc.).
- Familiarity with printing processes and production.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, etc.).
- Exemplary organizational and project management skills, utilizing software, such as Asana.
- High-quality execution skillset, delivering projects on schedule, while adhering to brand guidelines.
- Ability to prepare files accurately for print as press-ready CMYK, as well as RGB for digital media.
- Video editing / motion graphics and familiarity with Adobe Premier Pro preferred.
- Non-profit experience, a plus!
- An interest in photography and the ability to art direct, an added bonus!
