Our Tax Exempt practice provides clients with tax guidance and planning related to protecting tax-exempt status, preparing and/or reviewing tax returns for exempt organizations and their taxable affiliates (990s/1120s/1065s) and related filings, including international filings as needed, IRS audit defense strategies, and other relevant tax matters.
Our people work on key client issues in domestic federal taxation, with a focus on implementing tax strategies that align with the client's business objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Provide detail review and analysis of tax returns – approximately 30- 50% of your time
- Work as part of a dedicated team of experienced exempt organization tax professionals
- Work on multiple complex issues while communicating in a non-technical manner to facilitate communication between the client and the service team while managing the risk for both the client and the firm
- Interact directly with clients handling questions, planning, concerns, etc.
- Develop, motivate, and train staff level team members – approximately 10% of your time
- Performing, documenting, summarizing, and reviewing research conclusions regarding specific tax issues – approximately 10% of your time
- Remain up-to-date on current tax practices and changes in tax law
- Other duties as assigned
- Some travel may be required
Basic Qualifications:
- BA/BS Degree – preferably in Accounting or related field of study
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a public accounting environment
- Ability to work closely with clients to answer questions or to collect necessary information for tax service requirements
- Comprehensive understanding of tax law/rules and implications
- Experience preparing and reviewing returns
Effective verbal and written communication skills

- Masters of Accounting
- CPA, JD, LLM, or EA
- Experience with a national or large regional accounting firm
- Working knowledge of tax code and technical aspects of tax preparation and compliance
- Strong technical skills in accounting and tax preparation, industry specialization is a plus
- Experience in dealing with international tax matters a plus

Compensation Range: $76,300 - $144,100
Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
