Job Summary: Repair and maintain and repair a wide variety of landscape equipment and vehicles.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):
· Mechanics must be able to prioritize incoming work, adhere to predetermined timetables and maintenance procedures, and operate effectively independently without continual or immediate supervision.
· The shop manager will give the mechanical instructions before the technician may attend to the equipment's repair and maintenance requirements.
· Inspect and repair spark plug gaps, clean and repair valves, carburetor, distributors, and spark plug gaps.
· Repair and maintenance of small-engine landscape equipment such as lawnmowers, line trimmers, hedge trimmers, sod rollers, sod cutters, and leaf blowers.
· The ability to disassemble small engines and reassemble them after repairs or maintenance have been performed.
· Keep equipment in good working order by performing basic maintenance procedures such as lubricating and cleaning components, honing cylinders, fine-tuning ignition systems, and sharpening and replacing blades, belts, pulleys, and tires.
· Verify that equipment works after repairs have been made by testing and inspecting problems, identifying breakdowns, and missing parts, and finding and replacing what's broken or missing.
· The mechanic will provide his/her tools and will always maintain a well-organized and clean shop.
Experience:
- Previous experience as a mechanic or in a similar role
- Proficient in soldering, welding, and other mechanical repair techniques
- Strong customer service skills to effectively communicate with clients and address their concerns
- Familiarity with Caterpillar machinery is a plus
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and work in physically demanding environments
