Title: Instrumentation and Controls Engineer
Supervisor: Engineering Manager
Shifts: 2nd and 3rd
We are a well-established and growing food manufacturing facility located in Haverhill, MA looking for talented Instrumentation and Controls Engineers. The primary focus of these positions is automation support for new and existing manufacturing equipment to maintain 24x7 operational readiness. Scope includes both sustainable and new project-based efforts. Applicants must be highly motivated, self-managed, and have the ability to work independently as well as in performance driven team environments on multiple projects. This is an excellent career opportunity with the potential for growth.
Summary:
This position requires proficiency in working with automated electromechanical systems including electrical, electronics, pneumatics and mechanical systems, as well as a thorough understanding of related manufacturing processes. Being able to read, understand, and make applicable modifications to control system programs is a critical responsibility of this role. Potential candidates are expected to have an equal amount of hands-on experience as software experience – the former to assist maintenance technicians in solving issues, and the latter to help diagnose and provide direction to others.

- Participate in multiple cross-functional teams – between operations, engineering, maintenance, and quality groups – to identify and prioritize tasks that maximize value across the business
- Provide software lifecycle support for heavily automated manufacturing equipment. This includes review and diagnostics within existing codebases, modifications to enhance equipment operation, standardization across unit operations, new commissioning efforts and decommissioning efforts
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to instrumentation and software. This includes flow meters, pressure sensors, VFDs, RTDs, valves, pumps, control loops, etc.
- Work with other automation professionals to define an overall automation strategy and execute towards it
- Operate very much as a self-starter – identify, solve, and improve upon engineering challenges with minimal supervision
- Document designs in the form of specifications, drawings, and schematics
- Present ideas to the team on improving overall performance of equipment
- Perform other tasks and activities as needed

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment & handle multiple tasks concurrently
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
