POSITION SUMMARY:
The Vice President role in our Consumer division will be responsible for generating and managing new business within the consumer sector, building trust with clients, ensuring flawless engagement, closing transactions, and acting as a role model and resource for early career team members. The Vice President will lead the execution of public and private capital raising and advisory transactions, including IPOs, follow-ons, PIPEs, private equity and debt placements, and buy-side and sell-side mergers and acquisitions specific to the consumer industry. The Vice President will build strong client relationships and serve as a mentor and resource for Investment Banking Associates and Analysts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manage deal execution and lead project management throughout the entirety of consumer-focused transactions.
- Play a key role in supporting origination, evaluating opportunities, and executing deals within the consumer sector; assignments will span various products and consumer sub-sectors.
- Coordinate information flow and execution with product groups specializing in consumer markets.
- Participate in and lead marketing meetings with consumer clients.
- Engage daily with senior team members and consumer client management teams to execute transactions and discuss strategic alternatives.
- Oversee and direct detailed valuation analyses, including DCF, trading comparables, and transaction precedents, with a focus on consumer companies.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:
Directly supervising staff day to day work, as well as scheduling, tracking time and paid time off, approving overtime and payroll documentation, providing performance feedback. Includes working with General Manager and Human Resources on resolving personnel issues and making recommendations for personnel growth, duty or location changes, employee reprimands, and terminations.
REQUIRED AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree required; a degree in a related field (e.g., Marketing, Business) is a plus.
Required Licensure: Series 63, 79
Required Experience, Skills, and/or Knowledge:
- Minimum 5+ years of Investment Banking experience with a focus on the consumer sector.
- Experience executing IPOs, follow-on and shelf offerings, and PIPEs, particularly within the consumer industry.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with an understanding of consumer market dynamics.
- Professional maturity and experience to interact with senior bankers and consumer industry leaders.
- Excellent technology skills, with superior Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills; familiarity with consumer-specific analytical tools is a plus.
- Demonstrated strategic and creative thinking, along with distinguished communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively both as an individual and as part of a team.
- Strict attention to detail, with a demonstrated ability to take initiative.
- Strong interest and understanding of financial markets, particularly within the consumer sector, along with a history of strong academic performance and professional drive.
- Strong public speaking skills and comfort in leading large group conference calls with consumer clients.
WORKPLACE LOCATION
- Our team operates out of our beautiful offices on Madison Avenue in New York City. This role requires daily presence in the office as well as at client offices for meetings, events, etc.
SCHEDULING REQUIREMENTS
- Requires some flexibility in scheduling, such as the ability to work evenings and weekends to meet client deliverables.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
- Requires ability to travel locally by car/public transportation, as well as regular domestic trips involving air travel for multi-night stays.
