Position: Engineer-in-Training (EIT) - Wastewater Division
As an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with Hogan Land Services, you will play a crucial role in our Wastewater Division, supporting the design, implementation, and management of wastewater and septic systems. This position offers hands-on fieldwork, technical writing, and extensive use of industry-standard software like AutoCAD and Civil 3D. You will work closely with experienced engineers and environmental health specialists to ensure our projects meet regulatory standards and exceed client expectations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in Well & Septic Permit History Investigation
- Conduct Preliminary Soils Exploration and Site Evaluations
- Perform Percolation and Groundwater Testing
- Schedule and log field inspection requests and activities
- Develop efficient and compliant septic system designs using AutoCAD and Civil 3D
- Prepare detailed technical reports, proposals, and project documentation
- Conduct on-site inspections of wastewater systems to ensure regulatory compliance
- Stay informed of local, state, and federal regulations related to wastewater and septic systems
- Provide technical support and expertise as needed
- Engage with clients to understand their needs and provide updates on project progress
- Perform other tasks as assigned
Required Skills and Abilities:

Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer, printer, fax, phone; to occasionally operate a motor vehicle; vision to read printed materials and computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment. You may lift and carry equipment, take soil samples, and walk for long periods of time, all of which requires physical fitness. The position requires a capacity for strenuous physical effort such as walking and climbing over steep terrain. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
Work Environment
Employees work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Employees will work in the field and do major labor-intensive perc testing and profiling, occasionally be exposed to loud noise levels, cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, road hazards, vibration, mechanical and/or electrical hazards, and hazardous physical substances and fumes. Field work is sometimes performed in a physical environment where the terrain may be steep, uneven, rocky and covered with thick tangled vegetation. Employees may occasionally interact with frustrated clients, neighbors, or public agencies.
Education and/or experience: Bachelors degree, EIT certificate.

Pay: $28.00 - $40.00 per hour
