Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist:
Rockford Urological Associates is looking for a full-time medical assistant to add to our growing urological practice. RUA is looking for an energetic personality, a quick learner, and a self-starter who can work independently and in a fast-paced team environment. The Medical Assistant is responsible to room patients, verify and record patient information, and update patient’s medical history. Also, taking phone calls, sending lab, testing and/or imaging orders, motoring results from orders and ensuring they are given to the physician in a timely manner, and preparation of next day schedule. Assisting with procedures, like biopsies, cystoscopy, as well as giving injections, teaching CIC and changing catheters. Verifying patient identification, obtaining blood specimens by performing venipunctures. Additional duties include preparing treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping rooms clean, stock supplies and helping physicians with day to day task to better serve the patients.
Primary Duties:
· Rooming patients
· Preparing patients for examination
· Taking vital signs
· Verify and record patient medical information
· Maintain examining room supplies and inventory
· Assist physician during exams
· Assist with surgical office procedures
· Administer injections when needed
· Collect and prepare laboratory specimens
· Preparing and administering medications per protocol
· Discharging patients and coordinating follow-up care
· Perform all other duties as assigned
· Explaining procedures to patients.
· Comforting patients that might be nervous about needles.
· Drawing blood.
· Applying bandages after blood is drawn.
· Testing PSA blood sample and entering result into the patients chart.

· Overtime when needed
Required:
· Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program
· Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Medical Assistant
· Ability to triage messages
· Knowledge of medical terminology
· Ability to multi-task and work in a team environment
· Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
· Possess critical thinking abilities
· Possess exceptional communication skills
· Previous EMR knowledge and experience
