Specialty Care Transport Nurse
Overview:
Viewpoint Ambulance is actively seeking a full-time, part-time, and per diem Specialty Care Transport (SCT), formerly referred to
as a Critical Care Transport, Coordinator who is responsible for overseeing and managing the Viewpoint’s
SCT program. The SCT Coordinator works in close collaboration with the Viewpoint Ambulance
Management Team and the Medical Director. The SCT Coordinator oversees the performance of the SCT
staff. The SCT Coordinator will be engaged in procedure and policy development, performance
improvement activities and clinical competency evaluation. This position supports organizational goals
by providing quality customer service to our clients and patients.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Submit a written and signed affirmation of adherence to all federal, state, and local rules,
regulations and laws, including Los Angeles and Orange County prehospital care policies andprocedures. * Sign and approve, in advance, all policies and procedures to be followed for SCTs and revise
current policies, as necessary.
- Maintain documentation of all applicable licensure, certification and/or accreditation
requirements for all SCT personnel. * Perform annual training, skills competency evaluation of all SCT medical personnel.
- Manager will run calls when needed. If there is an issue with staffing, Manager will make him/her
self-available to cover shift * Maintain SCT nursing staff by determining strategic recruiting focus, review and develop selection
criteria, establish hiring practices cohesive to the SCT environment and evaluate effectiveness ofthe SCT RN’s. * Be familiar with EMTALA and HIPAA.
- Ensure the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of a QI program in collaboration
with Viewpoint’s Medical Director. * Continually reassess the needs of the SCT Program and make recommendations for change.
- Demonstrates multi-tasking skills and ability to prioritize quickly and independently in critical
situations. * Has ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Has extensive knowledge of the uses, doses and side effects of medications as they apply to
different medical conditions and how to determine the effectiveness of the medication. * Reports all problems and unusual occurrences immediately to management and if needed to

- Maintains and replenishes SCT equipment and supplies as needed.
- Maintains courteous, professional, and ethical behavior while working cooperatively with other
members of the health care system, co-workers, and the public. * Demonstrates effective communication skills with patients and their families, co-workers, hospital
staff and other members of EMS.
- Has regular attendance consistent with scheduled hours. Demonstrate a willingness to work
overtime as needed. * Documents pertinent patient information neatly and accurately on all required SCT
forms/documents. (Patient Care Records, Physician Standing Orders, PCS forms, etc.). * Making or recommending necessary adjustments by collaborating with team members and
multidisciplinary members. * Represent organization by establishing and maintaining relationships with outlying hospitals.
- Must have excellent multi-tasking skills. Prioritize and perform a variety of concurrent tasks with
minimal direction. * Must have excellent, in-depth knowledge of physiological functions and processes as they relate to
issues of patient care. * Display professionalism, compassion and sound medical practice when dealing with challenging
situations.
Training:
- Attend all Company required training, and mandatory Company updates. Complete the training in
the allotted time the Company sets. * Attend EMS Agency Orientation within 6 months of hire.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be currently licensed by the California Board of Registered Nurses with no violations or
restrictions. * BSN required with experience.
- Three years of experience in a critical care environment (ER, ICU) in a large tertiary care facility.
- Minimum of one year of experience in a critical care transport environment.
- Current AHA BLS card.
- Current AHA ACLS card.
- Current AHA PALS card.

- Current Trauma Critical Care certification (TNCC/ PHTLS) desired.
- Current CEN, CCRN, MICN, CFRN or CTRN preferred.
- Current state Driver’s License in good standing.
- Satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Viewpoint’s Driving Policy.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to write required reports and correspondence.
- Ability to function in a leadership capacity with the ability to coordinate and educate an SCT Team.
- Must be a “self-motivator” and assertively take on challenging responsibilities and hold self,
accountable for results and performance. * Conduct patient care tasks while lifting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Adequate vision required to be able to read information from printed sources and computer
screens, as well as color vision and fields of vision to perform job functions. * Communicate verbally to patient, dispatchers, physicians, and co-workers in transmitting and
gathering information. * Be able to tolerate heavy computer usage.
- No physical restrictions that would keep you from performing all job duties.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be able to successfully pass a background investigation and pre-employment medical
examination, which includes drug and alcohol screening. * Must have a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and additional shifts as needed.
- Able to rotate shift assignments as needed and/or required based on operational need.
