Overview: Experience in a leadership role (grade level/department team leader, instructional coach, TAP or BLT member) or experience in leading initiatives in school climate. Experience in implementing, managing, and analyzing data from different sources to ensure equitable practices and support of all students’ involvement in the school culture. Experience in working with students of varying ages, skill levels, and circumstances.
Job Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Building Principal, the Instructional Specialist (Dean of Students) will assist the Building Principal in the general administration of the school; manage disciplinary procedures and actions; administer the school in the absence of the principal and assistant principal; monitor and enforce rules concerning attendance; and ensure the school is safe for all students.
Essential Job Functions:
- Monitors and enforces rules concerning attendance, following up with parents and other appropriate parties
- Oversees all disciplinary procedures and actions and record-keeping
- Assist with difficult behavior problems and school-wide discipline
- May serve as a district representative for IEP/ETR meetings
- Work with the court system and/or community agencies to solve school and student problems
- Assists with the planning and implementation of district and state assessments
- Assists with the OIP process
- Exemplifies professionalism and fosters goodwill to enhance the district’s public image
- Pursues opportunities to enhance professional performance
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree
- Minimum of three years successful classroom teaching experience in a public school
- Ohio Administrative Certificate/License or be registered for coursework toward administrative license
- Evidence of core computer competencies
- Maintains a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous related experience
- Experience working in a multicultural environment
- Familiar with district PBIS goals and strategies that support Restorative Practices
Salary Range: Salary and benefit package will commensurate with the education and experience of the candidate.
