Job Summary
Decatur Machine Servies LLC specializes in the manufacture of critical, tight tolerance parts and components for Aerospace, Defense and Commercial applications. Located in Decatur Texas, our facility has a clean and temperature-controlled environment. Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Machining operations Manager is responsible to lead their team to ensure that all assigned machines and machinists have the training, material, programming, and tooling to efficiently and effectively machine components to customer specifications. As a machinist, assist in the to set-up, machining and trouble shooting of mill and lathe work orders to help the machinists complete the job. As a leader, schedule the work throughout the facility so that work orders are started and completed on time with the best possible resources (machine/machinists).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all machinists are ready and able to work on prescribed work orders
- 100% first pass yield (passes quality inspection at job completion)
- Assist in developing machinists to achieve the next level of job mastery and help to recruit /interview new candidates
- Complete work orders per customer specifications
- Aid in improving quality and other metrics by leading continuous improvement projects
- 98% on time delivery
- 95% utilization (time on work order)
- 90% efficiency (completing work order in hours estimate)
- Ensure that all machines are inspected daily and serviced, non-functioning machines are called in for a priority repair
- Ensure that all machinists and machines are fully utilized with work orders, tooling, and programming
- Ensure that the assigned team consistently meets the following metrics:
Required Skills/Abilities
- 10 years of machining experience
- One required, but both mill and lathe experience preferred
- 2 years of leadership experience (lead, supervisor, manager, etc)
- ISO 9001
- AS 9100 experience preferred
- Be able to interpret engineered component drawings and customer specifications
- Must be a US person
Education and Experience
- Computer experience with Microsoft Office (excel and word)
- Various functional experience in quality, supply chain and customer service
- Mastercam programming experience
- Scheduling experience
- Ability to operate a manual CMM and other inspection equipment
Physical Demands
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Regularly lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment:

The employee may be exposed to hazardous chemicals.

Schedule: 9-80 work schedule (every other Friday off)
