Senior Payroll Specialist
POSITION SUMMARY The Benefits/Human Resource/ Senior Payroll Specialist are key contributing roles to manage and oversee the organization's enterprise. Human Resources is an essential role that oversees the consistent pay practices that adheres to company established policies.
Senior Payroll Specialists ensure payroll is processed timely and accurately. This includes the production of multiple bi-weekly payroll processes to calculate wages based on hours worked and administer payments. Must be good with numbers and handle sensitive information. Requires continual maintenance of the UKG Pro System of compensation/personnel/FMLA/I-9 records.
PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implements and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions that includes salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
- Audits and corrects payroll errors when needed; utilizes payroll checks and balances prior to processing payroll per standard payroll procedures.
- Management of the UKG Pro system and timecard detail for auditing and accuracy of the timecard corrections including missed punches when applicable.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, employee transfers and changes to pay rates.
- Handle mandatory standard reporting to include monthly Union Health & Welfare and Pension reports. Evaluate the union members that meet the criteria to qualify for benefits. Require a great level of detail to review all employees within the bargaining agreement.
- Maintains step increase schedules for all collective bargaining agreements.
- Coordinate bi-weekly payroll for salaried and hourly payroll ensuring efficient, accurate and timely payroll delivery for multiple health care entities.
- Completes monthly, quarterly, and annual compliance reports and tax filings such as 941's, W-2's and etc.
- Direct and support the Business office Managers at the various nursing homes.
- Verify, audit, and interpret data imports for payroll processing such as timecards and benefits against source documents to ensure accuracy.
- Management of the HRIS system to evaluate the employment status, including the employee benefits.
Performs other duties as requested or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
KEY COMPETENCIES

- Knowledge of Microsoft Word/UKG-Pro Excel or related software is a plus

- Good skills using MS Word and Excel
- Strong working knowledge of payroll best practices

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Full Time (40 hours) Bachelor’s Degree, Business Administration/Finance or equivalent level of knowledge in a related field
- 2-4 year’s of payroll experience performing all functions of payroll
- Knowledge of federal, state and local payroll laws and compensation

- Good problem solving /judgment skills and high level of attention to detail and accuracy
