Vice President, Finance

Our client is the nation's first and only non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening and growing educator preparation at Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs). Its larger goals are to diversify the teaching profession and intentionally address critical issues of educational equity for all students.
As the Vice President of Finance, you will be critical in overseeing all finance, accounting, compliance, and reporting activities. As the organization continues to scale, you’ll ensure long-term financial sustainability and partner with our staff and Board of Directors on strategic financial decisions. You’ll manage an outsourced external accounting team and continually assess and improve the finance infrastructure, policies, and procedures required to implement the organization’s strategic plan and advance our mission.
Based out of Peachtree City, GA, the Vice President of Finance will sit on the Executive Leadership team and report directly to the Founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer.
Responsibilities:

Financial Operations Leadership: Oversee daily financial operations, managing accounting, accounts payable, contracts, payroll, and grant administration and ensuring GAAP compliance and regulatory adherence.

Grant Management: Collaborate with Development Operations on grant budgets and financial reporting, ensure expenditures align with grant and program budgets, and prepare financial reporting materials for grants.

Budgeting and Financial Reporting: Lead the annual budgeting process, forecast cash flow, and present accurate financial reports. Administer and review financial plans, identifying and correcting variances.

Audit and Compliance: Coordinate the annual and monthly closing processes, lead audit activities, and refine and implement policies, internal controls, and accounting standards.

Strategic Financial Leadership: Advise leadership on financial strategy, planning, and infrastructure to support organizational growth and manage the external outsourced accounting team.

Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with the Board’s Finance and Investment committees on financial issues and trends, represent the organization in external negotiations, and inform the president of critical problems.
Required Qualifications:

10+ years of work experience inclusive of 5+ years of functional experience

Bachelor’s Degree (in Business, Nonprofit Management, Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred)

Demonstrated excellence in managing finance, accounting, budgeting processes, internal controls, and reporting for a national nonprofit with a budget of $5M+

Ownership of the accuracy, quality, and content of all financial data, reporting, and audit coordination

Technological experience: QuickBooks Pro, SAP Concur accounting software and database programs, Microsoft Office and Zoom SharePoint, proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and knowledge of Dropbox

Experience federal, state or private grants (at least 1)

Willingness to travel to annual team retreats and other organizational events as necessary (2-3 trips required and opportunity for more)

Must be able to go the office the 1st 90 days, then able to work from home 2 days a week (Peachtree City GA)
Preferred Qualifications:

CPA or master’s in finance, business, nonprofit management, or related field

SAGE Intact or QuickBooks Pro, or SAP Concur accounting software
