COUNCIL ON SUBSTANCE ABUSE (COSA)
PROGRAM COORDINATOR- SEKOU PROJECT
The mission of the Council on Substance Abuse (COSA-NCADD) is to reduce the incidence and prevalence of the disease of alcoholism, other drug addiction diseases, and related problem. The Program Coordinator reports to the Program Manager and is responsible for coordinating and implementing alcohol and substance use and HIV/AIDS programs and services to men who identify themselves and males having sex with men (MSM).
CORE JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Coordinate and implement all program activities as per scope of work and timeline.
- Establish and maintain working relationships with other agencies/ organizations.
- Prepare and implement program curriculum, and all other printed materials required by the program.
- Facilitate meetings, workshops, seminars, etc. for the purpose of providing training and education.
- Collect data, conduct data entry and prepare monthly program statistics.
- Report progress and activities to the program director and program coordinator on a regular basis.
- Assure compliance with program goals and objectives as assigned.
- Conduct himself/herself in a respectable manner whether on or off the job.
- Excellent organization, written and oral skills and ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to plan, organize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment; excellent attention to detail and follow-through.
ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a human services field with one year of experience providing at least one of the following: substance abuse prevention or treatment services, health promotion services, school services, human services, community organization and development or extensive working experience in the fields of substance abuse prevention or treatment for more than three years. This experience may be cumulative.
- Experience in group facilitation and public speaking.
- Proven experience in marketing and communications experience.
- Advanced user of Microsoft Office, basic knowledge of other software applications (e.g., database, desktop publishing, etc.…).
- Preferred knowledge of HIV/AIDS; the substance abuse risk and protective factor model; the principles of human behavior modification; substance abuse prevention and treatment terminology, methodology, organization, and practices.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS
- Regularly sits at a desk, drives a motor vehicle, and lifts or moves objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Accommodation may be made for some of these physical demands for otherwise qualified individuals who require and request such accommodation.
- Flexibility and ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary to achieve the objectives of the program.
- Work occasionally requires traveling using agency and/or personal vehicle, valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance required.
