The Class A CDL OTR Truck Driver will deliver from our lumber yard in Arbor Vitae, Wisconsin to locations throughout Wisconsin and into surrounding states, by performing the essential duties and responsibilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan route, drive, operate, and deliver loads to specified destinations within the states of Wisconsin, Michigan, and Minnesota. (The majority of deliveries allow our drivers to be home daily. Occasionally runs require an overnight stay.)
- Obey and follow applicable traffic laws.
- Secure and protect loads during transit (i.e., position tarps, tie ropes).
- Verify incoming and outgoing loads for accuracy of order to ensure no damage and complete order.
- Complete and confirm all paperwork is accurately finished for submission to Dispatch (i.e., obtain customer signatures, sign receipts).
- Interact with customers and represent the Company in a professional manner.
- Provide continued communication with Company through telephone and radio.
- Inspect truck equipment and supplies (i.e., tires, lights, gas, oil, water, etc.) pre-and-post departure for safe, efficient, and timely travel. Obtain emergency repairs as needed.
- Perform routine inspection and preventative maintenance on trucks (i.e., spark plugs, lights, oil, etc.).
- Report defects, accidents, and violations to Company.
- Maintain records required under state and federal laws and regulations (i.e., truck log).
Education and/or Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Current and valid Commercial Driver’s License, and clean driving record required.
- Current CDL-Class A; current Department of Transportation (DOT) medical certificate.
- At least six months’ OTR, tractor/trailer, driving experience or commercial vehicle experience required.
- Knowledge of all applicable DOT regulations and Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
- Meet all standards (medical, safety, etc.) required by the DOT and pass the required drug/alcohol tests.
