The Role:
The Physical Security Manager will lead the development, implementation, and oversight of the Physical Security Program across our global organization. This role plays a vital role in protecting our company's personnel, assets, facilities, and reputation while ensuring alignment with business, regulatory, and compliance requirements. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of physical security principles, risk assessments, security technologies, and a demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally in a complex global environment.
The Physical Security Manager will report to the Global Director of Enterprise Resilience and Physical Security. This is a hybrid role, with a minimum of 3 days in office each week, based in our corporate headquarters in Chicago.
Responsibilities:

Program Management - Work in partnership with Facilities, Design, People Team, Legal, IT, and other relevant functions to develop and implement a comprehensive physical security program.

Define global physical security standards and policies ensuring adherence to relevant regulations and business requirements

Safe and Secure Office Design – work with Real Estate, Facilities, and Design teams on new and existing office designs, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and Morningstar physical security standards

Site Safety and Security Assessments and Mitigation - Develop tools and execute processes to conduct ongoing physical security risk assessments across our facilities and operations. Develop and execute mitigation strategies for identified risks and vulnerabilities, using a risk-based approach

Access and Security Systems Management - Oversee the design, installation, maintenance, and monitoring of physical security systems (i.e., badge readers, camera systems) and other relevant systems, measures, and programs in alignment with security standards and strategies

Safety Training and Awareness - Champions and coordinates the Security Awareness Program resulting in a strong Security Culture. Continuously assesses effectiveness of employee training on physical security

Travel Safety – responsible for travel risk management, which includes travel risk assessment, travel tracking, and incident response

Compliance - Ensure compliance with relevant safety and security regulations, along with business and client requirements

Public Safety Cooperation - Enable and champion cooperation and coordination with representatives of local government including law enforcement, emergency management, firefighting agencies, and other relevant entities

Security Project Management - Responsible for the project management of physical security system installations or upgrades in collaboration with project sponsors and vendors

Incident Management - Lead investigations of security incidents, breaches, and losses. Prepare detailed reports and recommendations for corrective action. Develop and maintain effective incident response protocols

Investigations - Conducts and assists in workplace safety and security investigations and/or collaborates with other functions to conduct these investigations

Contract Management – working with procurement, drive value with effective contract management for security and access services

Security and Risk Advisory - be the physical security subject matter expert by providing consulting and advice to internal stakeholders regarding various aspects of workplace security issues including, but not limited to, access and technology
Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, or a related field.

Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in physical security management, preferably within the financial services industry

Industry Certifications such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), or other relevant certifications are highly preferred.

Intermediate to expert knowledge of physical security systems (i.e. CCTV, Access Control, Intrusion) and other security-related systems

Sound knowledge and understanding of applicable federal, state/provincial, and municipal legislation and security regulations

Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal skills, and the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders

Proven ability to lead, develop, motivate others, manage, and maintain relationships with a variety of internal and external organizations/partners

Strong knowledge of security risk and threat assessments

Excellent teamwork, leadership, relationship building, mentoring, training and project management experience and skills

Ability to work comfortably within a fast-paced and matrixed organization

Possesses excellent analytical skills and ability to apply sound judgment in problem solving, evaluating courses of action, and making decisions on complex security matters

Experience in emergency planning and crisis management.

Willingness to travel internationally, as needed.
