Founded in 1969, the Society for Neuroscience (SfN) now has more than 36,000 members in more than 95 countries. Year-round programming includes the publishing of two highly regarded scientific journals, JNeurosci and eNeuro; professional development resources and career training through Neuronline¸ the Society’s home for learning and discussion; science advocacy and public policy engagement including annual Capitol Hill Day; and a variety of engaging public outreach efforts, led by the expanding and interactive collection of public-facing resources on BrainFacts.org. Position Summary
The Membership Associate I serves as the primary lead in managing membership and chapter operations throughout the year. The Associate I takes the lead in the implementation of membership sales work flows, membership operations, maintains customer records in the Association Management System (AMS), and serves as the staff liaison for the Member Services team.
Essential Job Functions

Executes all annual Individual and Institutional Program Membership operations including but not limited to renewal billing and termination processes, membership auto-renewal processing, Emeritus & Travel Fellow member processing, incentives & coupons, member recognition programs, onboarding programs, and resolving member inquiries.

Serves as the primary liaison to our Member Services team and coordinates daily with the team lead for the resolution of escalated member inquiries.

Coordinates AMS operational support for the Society’s Sustaining Associate Members (SAM) category.

Supports team membership engagement efforts including copywriting, reviewing the website, identifying opportunities for member recognition, incentives, and project support.

Executes direct and regression testing of AMS, Member Directory, Member Profile, and membership pages on SfN.org resulting from system integrations and/or software upgrades.

Executes all annual Chapter Operations including but not limited to the audit, IRS subordinates list updates, preparation of the Chapters Newsletter, reviewing web content, updating Chapter records in the AMS, and chapter petition review.

Serves as the primary liaison between SfN and Chapter Representatives for chapter related inquiries and to ensure Chapters are aware of and take advantage of annual benefits.

Serves as the primary liaison for the Chapters Subcommittee of the Society’s Global Membership Committee.

Plans and executes chapter-related events at the SfN annual meeting and prepares all accompanying materials.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree required. Relevant degree of study preferred.

1+ Years of experience required.

Experience using an Association Management Software or AMS on a daily basis.

Remote: Employees can work remotely in the U.S. as part of a 35-hour workweek with core hours from 10am-3pm Eastern time. A reliable high-speed internet connection is essential.
