Doral Academy is seeking a highly qualified, experienced and dynamic part-time special education teacher to serve at our Kindergarten through 8th grade campus beginning with the 2024-2025 school year. We are seeking applicants who will be actively engaged and involved beyond the classroom as a member of a student-centered, arts-integrated, dynamic school community.
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for planning, developing, delivering and evaluating appropriate individualized educational services in accordance with an Individualized Education Plan, learning programs and instruction for elementary special needs students in a full-day resource setting in consultation with other school personnel.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Special Education license through the Nevada Department of Education
- Authorized to work in the United States & ability to pass background check
- Strong background in teaching methods, developmentally appropriate classroom activities, and effective classroom management
- Strong background in behavior management, curriculum, and writing and implementing Individualized Education Plans
- Strong background in federal and state special education laws
- Knowledge of the diverse needs of children with disabilities and appropriate special education classroom practices
- The ability to work with students with emotional, physical, and mental disabilities
- Ability to instruct students one-on-one and small group situations
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Maintain confidentiality of staff and students
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Prepare for assigned classes
2. Identify pupil needs and provide instruction appropriate to those needs
3. Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with the physical limitations of the classroom and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved
4. Analyze and interpret student data to develop and modify instructional activities
5. Follow modifications and accommodations as specified in Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
6. Assist parents with understanding and supporting educational objectives, learning expectations and behavioral standards
7. Manage student behavior through monitoring, supervising and assessing behavioral patterns
8. Utilize appropriate corrective methods to modify behavior
9. Develop and implement Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs) where necessary
10. Instruct students on socially acceptable behaviors and personal development skills
11. Maintain accurate and complete records in compliance with school district regulations and legal requirements

- Nevada license in elementary education or special education
