Job Title: Accountant

The Edward Charles Foundation (ECF) is a fast-paced, best-in-class 501c3 fiscal sponsor umbrella that operates the accounting, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance for nearly 200 clients operating charitable initiatives worldwide. By supporting our clients in the back-office work, they can lead from the front and do important public-facing work. ECF is entirely responsible for our clients’ bill pay, ACH/Wires and checks, and bank accounts management, and in this high-stakes, deadline-driven capacity, we provide real-time responses and handle all their accounting needs, including monthly financial reporting.
Position Summary:
We seek an in-person (or remote) Accountant to join our team who is highly committed to providing an incredible experience to our valued clientele in handling every aspect of accounting, bill pay, and end-of-month financials. This role offers an incredible opportunity to learn, grow, and develop excellent client-facing skills, and be a first-class accountant, deadline-oriented, but driven to serve. This role requires excellent trust-building with clients, team members, and partners. You must endeavor daily to go beyond the normal call of duty, and to be helpful, upbeat, informative, and responsive in providing real-time information to our valued clients. Great email communicator but also not afraid to pick up the phone and handle business. Must be able to work 9 am-6 pm PST Monday through Friday, in step with our team. No exceptions.
Summary of Essential Job Functions:
- Monthly bank account reconciliation
- Weekly bill pay (over 150 transactions)
- Payroll
- Recording investment account activity
- Receiving and recording checks
- Maintaining a paper trail
- Heavy use of Google Drive & Xero Software in uploading documents
- Creating invoices and receiving payments
- Monitoring credit card activity and merchant accounts on donation platforms such as PayPal, Network for Good, etc, and performing a month-end reconciliation
- Handling checks for deposit
- Following company procedures that are deep, important, and nuanced
- Being attentive to detailed requests as they relate to clients’ charitable initiatives
- Supporting senior accountants with ad hoc tasks and special projects
- Working with outside CPA’s and other advisors
- Communicate with: partners, vendors, banks, clients, and team members.

Education and Experience:
- BA in Accounting or Finance from a 4-year institution is required
- 7 Years Accounting Experience
- Payables experience a real plus
- Good understanding of accounting principles and procedures
- Prior experience in the nonprofit sector is a plus, although not required
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills and ability to multi-task
- Strong knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability and willingness to maintain confidentiality
- Confident working independently and using the team to take initiative to guide clients through their challenges
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $80,000 - $85,000.00 per year
