Description:
Primus Aerospace is a leading manufacturing partner to aerospace, defense & space OEMs / Primes & Tier I suppliers. The company specializes in producing high-tolerance, complex geometry parts; machined out of standard and exotic metals. Primus works directly with all major aerospace manufacturers (e.g., Boeing, Lockheed, Northrop) to provide components to mission critical civilian and defense programs.
The Buyer will be responsible for the purchase of raw materials, hardware, supplies, and outside processing in a manufacturing environment. The Buyer obtains the best quality, value and service for product and services through supplier management. Success in the role includes a proactive approach to daily work along with strong communication and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities

Request and analyze quotes for outside processes and raw material for current and prospective jobs with ability to negotiate price, lead times, and expedites.

Ensure all material is procured at the most cost-effective price, supporting delivery to production. Must meet or beat budget requirements.

Anticipate customer needs and expedite when needed.

Communicate order commits and status to the project management team, including part shortages, delays, and capacity constraints.

Schedule and source raw materials and hardware through qualified suppliers per customer requirements in order to meet production schedule.

Drive supplier performance improvements: lead time reduction, increase payment terms and OTD. Participate in resolving Accounts Payable, credit holds and payment term issues as it applies to supplier deliveries and invoices.

Generate POs for outside processes while anticipating lead time to support customer delivery

Issue change orders for price variance and/or delivery dates

Communicate supplier schedule changes

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal departments and suppliers

Assist and monitor in RMA back to suppliers

Request from the supplier updated paperwork and certs when needed

Run MRP report to determine hardware and solvents required
Requirements:
- 2-5 years Buyer experience in Aerospace or Defense preferred

2-5 years Buyer experience in Manufacturing preferred

Must have experience buying Metal Alloys

DFARS purchasing experience required

Bachelor's degree in Operations, Inventory Management, Purchasing or an equivalent business certification preferred

Intermediate knowledge of MS Excel

ERP System experience within a supply chain environment including purchasing, planning, and inventory control

Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Organized, self-motivated, strong ability to work well under pressure

Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with all levels of the organization as well as directly with key customer contacts
