Controls Engineer II
Our client is actively seeking a Controls Engineer II to join their dynamic team. This role is pivotal in optimizing the efficiency and dependability of web handling production processes across diverse manufacturing facilities, with a primary focus on transitioning Siemens 505 series PLC's to Step 7 PLC's.
Primary Duties:

Apply advanced knowledge of the Manufacturing Playbook and Playlist to enhance manufacturing processes.

Utilize specialized skills in tuning, synchronizing, and sequencing Siemens drives for web handling applications, encompassing S110, G120, and S120 systems, among others.

Develop thorough support documentation for troubleshooting and maintaining drives.

Analyze and troubleshoot machine electrical drawings.

Configure PLC message instructions and network settings.

Craft Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), controls narratives, and testing protocols.

Create intermediate PLC programs and operator interfaces adhering to company Programming Standards, incorporating modular programming and state logic diagrams.

Design and deliver training materials to facilitate comprehension of programming standards and best practices.

Collaborate with Plant Systems and Reliability Group to set up comprehensive hardware, programming, and documentation standards.

Mentor and assist in training controls specialists, electricians, and electrical engineers.

Coordinate with external contractors and consultants for equipment specifications and system installations.

Stay abreast of emerging technologies in controls, drives, and web handling, leading their integration where applicable.

Forge strong relationships with key plant personnel to identify potential projects and ensure ongoing customer satisfaction.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.

A minimum of 5 years of experience in web handling applications and controls/drives programming.

Experience with AVEVA Suite Products.

Proficiency in Siemens Simatic and Simotion drives and controls, with a focus on S120 systems.

Familiarity with alternative drives/controllers such as Micromaster and Baldor 18h.

Competency in PLC logic development, especially Siemens 505 and Step 7 (S7) Series Systems.

Understanding of mechanical/electrical systems and ability to interpret schematics.

Intermediate proficiency in AutoCAD and SCADA systems.

Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.

Completion of company-provided training, including Siemens refresher courses, web handling seminars, equipment seminars/tradeshows, and OSHA training.

Preferred expertise in optimizing Siemens S120 drive systems and Wonderware object-oriented HMI development in System Platform.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

Capability to maintain stationary positions for extended periods and navigate office and plant production areas.

Exposure to various environmental conditions, including moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, extreme heat, and confined spaces.

Occasional exposure to loud noise and potentially hazardous chemicals, with proper protective gear provided.
