TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®:
Mover / Driver
Summary:
Consistently provide every customer with an exceptional overall move experience with amazing customer service. The driver is directly responsible for driving a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) (NOT CDL). The mover & driver need to efficiently and effectively conduct moving of home and business possessions as well as pack belongings and safely transport goods or furniture. The mover & driver should have general knowledge of functional support areas, including the core business, customer service, CMVs, and moving.
Essential Job Functions
- Lead movers / drivers can and will be the PRIMARY physical POINT OF CONTACT with customers during the move process. Movers / drivers are considered ‘lead’ when they have the most seniority on the job or are specifically tasked with being the lead on a job. Lead movers / drivers are responsible for establishing rapport with customers while building confidence in the services provided by TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®.
- Stay up to date on all company products, services, pricing, promotions, history, and policy.
- Actively participate in on-going training & development through stickmen university or monthly / quarterly training events.
- Review, understand and comply with ALL employment policies.
- Maintain a positive image of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®
- Ensuring proper personal hygiene at all times.
- Wearing approved, clean, and presentable TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® uniform at all times
- Conduct one self in a professional, kind and courteous manner at all times
- ALL OTHER DUTIES ASSIGNED BY ANY LEADERSHIP
Day-to-Day Functions
- Arrive to work on time
- Listen, understand & internalize move dispatch
- Prepare, inspect & load move vehicles with additional move equipment
- Contact with customer via phone & physical presence
- Understand & explain move paperwork to customers
- Develop & execute safe as well as policy adherent move load strategy
- Properly pack & secure customer inventory in move vehicle
- Safely transport goods to designated unload location following all CMV regulations
- Develop & execute safe as well as policy adherent move unload strategy
- Understand and explain billing paperwork along with taking payment
- Prepare vehicle for follow-on move / following days move
- Return vehicle in clean and operable order
- Check in with management for dismissal
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities (SKA) Required
- Must be able to effectively listen and communicate in an effective, helpful, and friendly manner with customers, co-workers, and management.
- Ability to direct the work of other movers and ensure their strong commitment to company policies and procedures, and most of all to exceptional customer service.
- Knowledgeable of all state and federal driving and moving requirements. Safely, responsibly, and professionally operate vehicles as well as monitors their functionality, including monitoring fluid levels, etc.

- Physical Demands: the job frequently requires employee to stand, walk, talk, sit, listen, use fingers, arms and legs. Occasionally required to lift objects weighing in excess of 100 pounds. Consistently required to lift objects of considerable weight repeatedly on a daily basis. Position also requires excellent vison – distance, peripheral, and depth. Possess the strength and agility to carry and load all contracted items on and off the trucks
- Ability to accurately add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers and decimals. Ability to perform these operations in U.S.-dollar denominations, weights, measurements, volumes and distance.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations, often with limited standardized procedures. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- Obtains customer feedback throughout the move to ensure ongoing customer satisfaction and be able to proactively resolve any issues or complaints.
- Accurately calculate the charges of services delivered and completes all move-related paperwork, and ensures that all forms and revenues collected are properly secured at the end of the work day.
- Safely moves, packs and unpacks customer’s belongings by utilizing all of the proper moving equipment and techniques and following the prescribed required policies and procedures.
- Organizes and secures truck at the end of each job and ensures truck and equipment is maintained in a clean, safe, and professional manner.
- Keeps the customer and management informed of any anticipated delays and any additional information that could increase customer satisfaction or improve profitability.
- Calmly and professionally handles situations that displease customers and provides timely feedback to management regarding customer concerns.
Driver Experience Requirements
-Be at least 21 years old (20 with extra training)
-At least 2 years driving experience
-Have an acceptable driving record
-Have a valid class driver’s license for the type of vehicle being operated
-Be familiar with the vehicles to be used or given instruction prior to driving insured vehicles
ACCEPTABLE DRIVING RECORD MEANS:
*No major violations in the last three years - Maximum of three minor moving violations in the last three years with No At-Fault Accidents - Maximum of one at-fault accident in the last 3 years*
Major violation is a citation that involves:
1. Driving while intoxicated and or impaired
2. Failure to stop and report an accident
3. Homicide, manslaughter or assault arising out of operation of a motor vehicle
4. Driving while license is suspended or revoked
5. Reckless driving
6. Speed contests, drag racing, or attempting to elude an officer of the law
7. Making a false accident report
8. A speeding violation 20 MPH or more above the posted limit
Minor violations:
Any moving traffic citation (speeding less than 20 MPH above the posted limit, failure to stop or yield, improper lane change, etc.) other than a major violation.
The following are non-moving citations:
-Motor vehicle equipment, load or size requirements
-Improper display or failure to display license plates
-Failure to sign or display registration card
-Use of a cell phone while driving
Work Environment
Work is generally performed outside, in a vehicle, in homes or business in all types of weather ranging from extreme cold to extreme heat. Travel is regularly required and necessary for job completion.
