ROLE: The Power Plant Instrumentation, Control, and Electrical Technician coordinates repair and PM activities related to the instrumentation, controls, and electrical equipment. You will be responsible for completing the maintenance of electrical/instrumentation components and systems of the plant and related infrastructure. The role will also be responsible for providing plant IC&E after-hours/weekend coverage when necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS: Completes work orders safely, efficiently, and effectively maintain electrical and instrumentational systems of the plant. Function of CMMS including input of work requests as required. Diagnoses and repairs the cause of instrument and control system malfunctions including transmitters, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), plant or distributive control systems, instrument loops, flow meters, pressure probes, temperature probes, level probes, repair electrical systems control malfunctions of equipment such as transformers, relays, switches, control, generator monitoring and control systems, medium and high voltage distribution systems, and monitoring devices. Conduct comprehensive analysis into electrical/instrumentation component and system issues and resolve practically and effectively. Knowledge and competency of all applicable Electrical/Instrumentation codes and best practices. Installs new electrical equipment as required. Seek out most cost-effective means in completion of tasks while keeping safety at the forefront. Provide technical input into the improvement and optimization of plant electrical/instrumentation systems and processes. Pursue proactive measures for maintaining plant reliability. Drives innovation into improvement of IC&E teamwork structure and procedures. Providing solutions to technical and team issues despite barriers that may exist. Performs 480V and high voltage switchyard basic electrical systems maintenance and or supervise outside contractors in the performance of such work including the development of work scope and bid analysis. Fully supports the use of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (Maximo) by philosophy. Performs CMMS data entry and work order close-out in a thorough and timely fashion Performs capital project and/or major program responsibilities as assigned by the PM. Responsible for initiating purchase requisitions and inventory modifications as necessary. Active participant and contributor to safety programs and initiatives zero risk to themselves and co-workers regarding HSE. Accurately assess the risk of equipment deficiencies to plant reliability. Updates drawings and prints as required. Responsible for maintaining detailed records of instrumentation repairs and calibrations. Create and maintain effective relationships amongst team and other groups in the plant. Collaboration with other groups/disciplines for efficient resolution to complex issues. Places betterment of the team and plant above personal motives. Keeps operations staff on shift fully informed of unusual conditions and current job progress as the job relates to facility operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:5 years in an industrial/power industry setting as an E/I Tech. Experience with ABB (Bailey) DCS, turbine controls, Siemens T3k or equivalent turbine controls, or Allen Bradley PLCs; or experience with Baker Hughes/GE Control Systems (Mark VI, Mark VIe).Experience with low, medium, and high voltage switchgear and transformers is preferred. Preferred CEMS maintenance/Trouble shooting experience. DCS to I/O to field device troubleshooting experience is required..
JOB DESCRIPTION: Able to demonstrate journeyman level knowledge in IC&E field. Able to meet plant site qualification standards. Instrumentation & Electrical school education preferred. Basic computer skills. May be required to operate a forklift and similar equipment (man lift).Reads understands and complies with all regulatory and facility safety procedures. Reads and understands P&IDs, Electrical one-line, & three-line diagrams. Able to demonstrate a working knowledge of medium and High voltage electrical equipment including hardware drawings and protection devices. Able to demonstrate a working knowledge of electrical preventive maintenance procedures. Able to utilize resources efficiently and effectively.
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED. Instrumentation and Electrical School. Associates degree or bachelor’s degree in Industrial Electronics, Electronic Instrumentation, or equivalent engineering studies is preferred.
