Circus Center seeks a Technical Director to be responsible for overseeing lights, sound, costumes, props, set, and all technical elements of a full-length production by our pre-professional youth troupe, the San Francisco Youth Circus, running July 12-14.

Duties:
- Operating, maintaining, and safeguarding the technical assets of the Center, including supervising the use of lighting, sound, communications equipment, and the use and maintenance of stage facilities;
- Determining the technical supports (lighting, sound, staging, etc.) necessary for the production;
- Designing, setting up, maintaining, and operating lighting and sound systems for production, and assisting artists with technical matters;
- Advising production staff on technical specifications, costs, and usage of technical equipment required for show, and supervising the implementation of approved technical designs;
- Supervising and assisting with set construction and stage management;
- Recruiting, training, and assigning volunteer/paid technical staff for show;
- Attending rehearsals and technical rehearsals, in order to supervise and assist in the technical aspects of mounting show; and
- Being available for run of show as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Experience in the technical aspects of live performing arts required. Experience in technical direction preferred.
- Working knowledge of production techniques, methods, and procedures, including stage, set, sound and lighting design and implementation; stage management; computerized lighting systems; digital sound equipment; stage carpentry; and appropriate safety precautions and procedures;
- Ability to analyze and evaluate the need for technical support for various events and productions (technical performance staff contacts within the community preferred);
- Ability to work collaboratively with creative and production staff, program directors, and instructors;
- Ability to assist in budget preparation;
- Disciplined, well-organized, and highly detail-oriented;
- Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;
- A proven record in working successfully with diverse populations; and
- A positive attitude and an ability to be decisive yet flexible, with a comprehensive approach to problem solving and decision-making.
