Position Summary: Critical thinker and self-starter, willing to go the extra mile and stay committed to educating themselves in our constantly changing field. Candidates should have extensive experience with installing, inspecting, and repairing of heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration systems. Candidates should also be comfortable working with little to no supervision and possess a strong work ethic and team mindset
Requirements and Qualifications:
- 3-5 years apprenticeship under a journeyperson preferred (We are not seeking entry-level applications or those with residential experience only)
- Certification through the Environmental Protection Agency to handle refrigerants required (Universal or Type I & Type II, 410A)
- Technical high school certification and/or associate degree from an accredited HVAC program required
- Knowledge of hand cutting tools, electric saws, and electrical and gas equipment.
- Safety-minded and knowledge of OSHA & NFPA safety regulations.
- Previous on the job training a plus
- Strong verbal communication skills, ability to explain complex HVAC issues with customers in a way they understand
- Critical-thinker, problem-solver
- Current valid driver’s license for operating motor vehicles in the state of New Jersey
- Must be punctual and adhere to a daily schedule with multiple appointments in different locations
- Must be available for 24-Hour Emergency On-Call Service, once a month (Additional Pay + Overtime)
- Must be available for seasonal overtime during the summer and winter months
- Must have professional appearance, strong writing abilities, computer skills, strong customer service skills
- Must have strong troubleshooting skills with ability to think outside of the box and experience and understanding of commercial HVAC/R including, but not limited to Split Systems, Package Units, Ductless Systems, Heat Pumps, Cooling Towers, Boilers, PTAC units, VAV’s, etc.,
- Chiller (experience a plus)
- Refrigeration (experience a plus)
- Controls troubleshooting (Distech a plus)
- Must have knowledge and capability to complete repairs on compressors, condensers, evaporator motors, piping, control wiring etc.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Travel to customer locations, often multiple daily, as scheduled
- Inspect existing HVAC systems for effectiveness and safety, perform consultations with customers to determine needs and discuss all solution methods
- Install, inspect, troubleshoot and repair HVACR equipment to ensure proper HVAC and/or refrigeration operation in accordance with established procedures and according to code.
- Conduct performance tests with specialized tools
- Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC systems to increase longevity
- Explain the benefits and assist in the selling of maintenance contracts to new customers and assure renewal of ongoing maintenance contracts with existing customer base
- Maintain accurate inventory of all equipment and HVAC resources
- Perform other duties as required to maintain equipment and follow all company and customer safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain all site locations for safety and cleanliness before, during and after services are provided.
Working Conditions:
Pushing, pulling, and lifting various types of equipment. Walking, standing, and stooping for extended periods of time. Climbing and working from ladders and staging while carrying equipment that may weigh up to 75 lbs.
Working at difficult angles to perform repairs. Working in all types of weather conditions. May be exposed to dust, noise, heat, cold, lubricants, and chemicals during the course of work.
