Summary
An Lead Behavior Therapist works one-on-one with clients, in-home, in-clinic, school or community setting. A lead utilizes highly structured, evidence-based treatment programs that are geared toward the specific client's needs. A Lead Behavior Therapist uses the principles of applied behavior analysis to help clients improve social, play, language and adaptive skills, while helping reduce challenging behaviors that get in the way of the client's everyday functioning. A Lead Behavior Therapist is required to be reliable and maintain accurate data keeping and time sheets. Implements methodologies and individualized programs as designed by the immediate supervisor.

Computer Skills
A Lead Behavioral Therapist should have knowledge of safari/google chrome/internet explorer, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Catalyst and CentralReach.
Certificates and Licenses
Valid driver’s license
Bachelor’s degree, or working towards their master's degree and/or field work towards their BCBA
Work Environment
A Lead Behavior Therapist will promote a positive work environment with staff, families and other personnel. Ability to adapt and be flexible to conduct sessions in a variety of settings
(i.e., in home, clinic, school, community, camps, etc.). Ability to maintain focus/attention on assigned task when noise level varies. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Physical Demands
A Lead Behavior Therapist must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
Administrative
- Files are kept current
- Reports and other related assignments are turned in on time; Maintains a Likert rating of 3 or higher on reporting writing scores
- Own schedule updated in CentralReach within a timely manner (weekly)
Communication
- Leads/participates in team meetings (i.e., sharing impressions, review and/or comment on data, recommendations)
- Able to articulate rational for programming and behavior support plan
Supervision
- Assumes ownership of their clients' DI and programming
- Keeping intake team informed of any scheduling, in order to allow for intake team to reach out to families accordingly
- Able to articulate areas of need on cases to make good use of clinical meetings
- Responsive to feedback and carries out directives of CEO/director
- Assumes responsibility for accessing CEO/director to get needs addressed
- Demonstrates assertiveness when needed to ensure their needs are getting met and concerns are adequately addressed
- Completes case notes on a weekly basis, and fidelity/reliability data two times per month, across each case (e.g., if overseeing 3 therapists/cases, would have 6 forms per month)
Flexibility
- Demonstrates flexibility with complexity cases
- Demonstrates flexibility and ability to work independently by completing both direct intervention and supervision roles on their caseload
- Copes with the stress of job responsibilities in adaptive and productive ways; sets a clear example for Behavior Therapists to follow
- Completes and/or covers direct intervention when necessary. Direct intervention is the priority and supersedes case management
Knowledge Base and Technical Skills
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 2 years of experience in ABA required
- Master’s degree in progress; BCaBA/BCBA certificate in progress
Organization and Program Preparation
- Program goals are operationally defined and organized according to domain areas
- When applicable data sheets are available to measure the specific program goals
- Teaching instructions are individualized to client’s needs; must contain objective, methodology, materials, client’s response, examples and source.
- Annotations are added when needed (i.e., school started/ended, vacation, new therapist, change in medication, etc.)
- Stimuli is created and provided to Behavior Therapist within a timely manner
- Reviews case with Behavior Therapist prior to them starting on case
Program Development
- Goals are clearly defined: observable, and measurable; Reflect priorities for family/Insurance/school district; Goals are functional and appropriate given the child’s abilities
- Creates session agenda and behavior support plans (length of teaching routine, relevant methods, etc.)
- Adds corresponding goals as client masters acquisition targets
- Identify the most appropriate data collection method
- Reviews client programming during supervision visits to monitor trends, trial counts, etc.
Program Implementation
- Completes case notes on a weekly basis for therapists, including uploading to Catalyst binders and emailing staff those notes
- Conducts fidelity and reliability checks with Behavior Therapists a minimum of 2 times per month per case; provides feedback when Behavior Therapist does not meet 80% or higher
- Use active learner model as needed across cases
- Provide behavioral support assistance to Behavior Therapist and parents
