POSITION TITLE: Sr. Manager, Grants & Stewardship
REPORTS TO: VP of Development & Partnerships
STATUS: Full-time, regular
LOCATION: Washington, DC
Summary: The Senior Manager of Grants & Stewardship supports fund development outcomes through grant research, writing, reporting, and donor stewardship. Connects the community and donors more deeply with Central Union Mission through speaking engagements, tours, customized communications, and networking opportunities for the purpose of further engaging individuals, churches, companies, and groups in volunteerism and philanthropy.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential duties and functions include, but are not limited to the following:
40% Grant-Writing and Proposal Development
- Responsible for all aspects of grant application process and funding cycle, including research, writing, and reporting.
- Develops, implements and manages strategic plans to secure funding from local, regional, and national corporations and foundations as well as workplace giving programs.
- Researches and identifies prospective funding sources and ensures stewardship of current partnerships.
- Works to ensure effective proposal content and meaningful grant reporting, accurately and on time.
- Develops and maintains tracking and reporting system for grant proposals, awards, and prospects to ensure the timeliness of submissions and reports in advance of published deadlines.
- In partnership with the Vice President of Development, meet with foundation and corporation representatives for solicitation, stewardship, and reporting.
40% Stewardship and Donor Relations
- Project management oversight and detailed execution of stewardship activities including impact reports, acknowledgement, donor recognition, thank you notes, etc.
- Drafts donor acknowledgments and collaborates with team members to ensure their timely and accurate completion.
- Helps plan and implement donor cultivation and stewardship events (volunteer experiences, site tours, receptions, cultivation/appreciation events) for mid and major gift donors.
- Thinks strategically about donor engagement, providing creative solutions to develop meaningful and mutually rewarding relationships with donors at all levels.
- Fields inquiries from donors about their giving. Consistently demonstrates exemplary customer service and provides excellent relationship management and prompt follow-up.
- Maintains accurate and detailed records of donor correspondence in database daily.
20% Community Engagement
- Researches, recommends, and implements strategies to raise the positive profile of Central Union Mission among civic, business, and church leaders in the local community.
- Educates the community through site tours and speaking engagements.
- Manages church partnerships in coordination with Vice President of Development.
- Supervises Volunteer Coordinator. Select, train, and provide development opportunities, performance appraisal and counseling. Ensure performance of individual is meeting goals.
- Other duties as assigned by VP of Development & Partnerships.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree from a nationally accredited university/college with 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated, successful experience researching and writing grant proposals is required.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills (critical and creative writing skills).
- Highly organized with acute attention to detail and time management.
- High capacity to prioritize and meet multiple deadlines/responsibilities.
- Comfortable with public speaking and skilled at creating compelling presentations based on the audience, using examples and stories that resonate with listeners.
- Strong project management skills and deadline tracking.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Practical experience and skills with the elements articulated in this job description.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
- Experience with donor CRM software is required.
- A demonstrated passion for ministry and issues surrounding homelessness and poverty.
- Ability to sit or stand for sustained periods of time, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and other basic physical abilities required.
- This position requires the ability to drive one’s own car and travel at times. Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record, ability to travel locally within the Metro DC area.
- Agreement with and commitment to Central Union Mission’s mission and statement of faith required. Committed Christian and currently active in a local Christian church required.

Pay: $66,430.00 - $72,095.00 per year
