This position will support the organization through managing the GIS function responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining maps, drawings, and records. Collaborates with other departments to improve processes. This position requires a blend of leadership and technical expertise, requiring the ability to manage and mentor employees, but also engage in the day-to-day tasks within the department.
Key Essential Functions and Duties
- Manages GIS and CAD technicians.
- Develops and implements best practices for GIS data management and quality control
- Supports the day to day delivery of maps, drawings and records of outside and inside plant facilities
- Assists with creating, maintaining and updating maps, drawings and records for new and existing outside plant and inside plant facilities, and maps existing houses for ongoing reference used by Facilities, IP, Customer Service, Construction and Marketing departments
Other Functions
- Will be responsible for identifying, researching, and implementing a new GIS system.
- Other tasks as assigned

- High school diploma,
- Associate Degree/Certificate or higher in engineering, drafting, mapping, or other related field
- Three to five years GIS/CAD and Mapping skills and knowledge,
- Two or more years people management, strongly preferred
- Telecommunications background, highly preferred
- Understanding of telecommunication operation and construction, preferred
- Strong fiber optic systems experience, preferred
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and other office software programs, preferred
- GPS collection and processing experience, preferred
- A valid driver’s license and good driving record
