Job Summary
The University of Chicago's Chemistry Department is seeking a Research Professional who possesses outstanding research skills. Responsibilities
Conduct Research: Design and execute experiments, utilizing advanced techniques and methodologies, to address critical questions in inorganic chemistry. This includes but is not limited to: design and synthesis of transition-metal complexes and clusters, including application of glovebox and vacuum-line methods and use of air- and temperature-sensitive reagents; characterization of molecular composition and structure by NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, X-ray crystallography, and related methods; and determination of physical properties, including redox and photochemical properties, electronic and vibrational spectra, solution-phase and solid-state characteristics.
Data Analysis: Analyze experimental data rigorously, employing statistical and computational tools as necessary. Interpret results and draw meaningful conclusions to contribute to the lab's research objectives.
Collaboration: Collaborate closely with other project team members. Foster a collaborative and supportive research environment.
Publication: Prepare research findings for reports and publication. Contribute to the development of research papers, presentations, and grant-related deliverables.
Lab responsibility: Assist in the maintenance of lab equipment, reagent stocks, and laboratory safety protocols. Ensure that the lab operates smoothly and complies with all relevant regulations
Innovation: Stay up to date with the latest advancements in the field and identify opportunities to integrate innovative technologies or approaches into our research.
Scientific Communication: Present research findings at lab meetings, conferences, and seminars. Engage in scientific discussions and networking to stay connected with the scientific community.
Grant Deliverables: Contribute to the reporting requirements for the grant supporting the research project.
Performs experiments and collects and analyzes data. Participates in the promotion of a research project.
Collaborates on development of new research projects with academic and community-based organizations.
May present work at scientific meetings.
Performs other related work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Minimum requirements include a PhD in related field.
