Fire Alarm Tech – FAL
About the Role
This role reports to the Branch Manager and is located in Dallas, TX. AFS is looking for Fire Alarm Tech for immediate opportunities. The preferred candidate will have an FAL, Fire Alarm - Installation experience for commercial, industrial, and multi-family buildings.
What you’ll do (day to day)
- Troubleshooting, programming, maintain, test fire protection systems in accordance with NFPA codes.
- Have working knowledge of alarm panels, devices and components.
- Coordinate with other trades as necessary to complete scope of work on projects. Electrical, Mechanical and Site superintendent coordination, Project manager.
- Interpretation of Construction drawings.
- Daily Reports to Fire Alarm Project Manager
- Give directions and Train Apprentices.
- Programming of Fire alarm systems, Silent Knight, Potter, Firelite.
- Parts Tracking of each job site.
- Multitask of Tracking multiple job sites progress.
- You will need to communicate with internal and external customers as well as offsite monitoring companies.
- Proper use and operation of tools required to complete service calls ex. meter, hand tools, etc.
- Plan, coordinate, and complete Installation jobs as scheduled.
- Record and report deficiencies of fire protection systems to customers.
- Understand and follow AFS’s Safety program, SDS book, Hazardous communication program, policies, and procedures.
- Train Fire Alarm Tech trainees.
Required Education and Experience
- 2-4+ years’ experience performing Installations.
- Able to interpret Construction Documents.
- Microsoft Office Skills.
- Strong working knowledge of life safety and NFPA 72 & 70 codes is required.
- FAL – REQUIRED.
- Working knowledge of alarm panels, devices and critical components.
- Willing to perform Service calls as needed.
- Able to complete documentation as necessary, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Willing to coordinate between inspection deficiencies and service required to correct found deficiencies.
- Able to read and write English clearly.
- Capability to present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction) and the general public.
- Valid driver’s license and excellent driving record.
- US work authorization.
- Must be able to pass a drug test per company policy.
