The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation is a Tribal health care organization, serving nearly 30,000 people living across rural, southwest Alaska in villages with populations from about 10 to more than 1,000. Bethel, the regional hub and location of the only hospital in the region, has a population of nearly 7,000. Position Summary:
Responsible to provide direction of a full range of clinical pharmacy services, outpatient & inpatient, village clinic stock and mail out program as well as all supervisory and management responsibilities related to the operation of the pharmacy department. Ensures that pharmacy services meet all federal, state and regulatory requirements. Promotes and maintains harmonious relationships and communications among pharmacy and medical providers, other departments/staff, patient and the public. Establishes objectives for the pharmacy service and an organizational structure for achievement of these objectives.
Position Qualifications:
- Advanced Pharmacy Degree (Masters or Doctor of Pharmacy).
- Four (4) years of hospital pharmacy experience with one (1) year of administrative experience. Some retail pharmacy experience preferred.
- Registered Pharmacist in State of Alaska.
- Office equipment (i.e., computers, multi-line telephone, fax machine, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Manages a total of thirty-three (33) employees. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
