Top Dog Training and Resort is a fast growing, innovative, luxury dog training/ boarding/ dayschool/ grooming facility. We are looking for a hardworking, self-motivated, and dependable person to join Team Top Dog as a Boarding School Dog Trainer. We are Balanced Trainers, so we prefer trainers with similar theories. The Boarding School Dog Trainer is responsible for the supervision, control and management of Canines ensuring the safety of the play/training group, one on one training, field trips, and staff. Boarding School Dog Trainers are also responsible for ensuring the maintenance and cleaning protocol is adhered to at ALL times. This position requires a high level of responsibility as we are caring for the lives of animals and monitoring and maintaining a safe environment. This is a dirty job and HARD work which requires being self-sufficient and the ability to multi-task. You must have a passion for working with animals and a flexible schedule (which includes weekends and holidays) ; the position is physically demanding. The essential responsibilities and requirements are as follows:
Primary Duties :
- Dog Management
- Interact with staff members and dogs in play and/or training groups using appropriate toys and tools to ensure safe levels of play/training and minimizing stress levels of all dogs in the play/training group.
- Create videos of dogs performance while enrolled in the training program
- Meet one-on -one with pet owners and teach them our techniques
- Take the dogs on field trips to pet friendly establishments
- Physically fit to stand on feet for 6-12 hour shift
- Ability to endure outdoor elements
- Maintain visual observation of canines as needed. Never leave dogs unattended.
- Maintain proper records of the dogs in the play/training group at all times and spread attention and play/training among all dogs in the group.
- Control level of play/training by following dog management and control procedures and instructions provided by management.
- Use proper dog handling techniques as instructed by management.
- Maintain day school as instructed per the posted checklist.
- Must be available to work holidays
- Ability to arrive to work on time
- Commit to continuing education with the company
- Cleaning Duties
- Performs daily cleaning and sanitizing of shelter areas, kennels, cages, yard and public areas following cleaning & disease control protocol, including spot cleaning throughout the day (e.g., sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, washing, etc.)
- Provides enrichment to dogs in a safe and effective manner (e.g., walking, play time, training, etc.)
- Reads and interprets animal care signage & accurately follows care instructions.
- Feeds dogs by complying with specific feeding programs.
- Stocks and maintains inventory. Notifies supervision when reordering is necessary.
- Bathes or cleanses animals immediately if they become soiled with urine, blood, or feces.
- Ensures proper bedding is provided for animals.
- Follows all safety guidelines to ensure a safe work environment for staff and living environment for animals.
- Takes immediate action to address any safety concern or non-compliance of safety rules that could put any person or animal at risk.
- Uses two-way radio to communicate effectively with staff.
- Assists other Animal Technicians as needed.
- Assists laundry room staff if needed by doing laundry or other tasks.
- Performs other related duties of a comparable nature as assigned.
- Open availability preferred. This position will require
weekday and weekend morning shifts as well as holidays.Office Duties Greeting customers and bringing dogs to their kennels while they await day school or supervised play time.Minimum Experience, Skills, Certification or Academic Background Required High School graduate or GED preferredOur facility is a Drug-Free Workplace. - Disinfect training equipment/ training room, and the outdoor areas.
- Changing and Washing sheets
- Cleaning water pails, bowls, kongs, and other toys
- Tracking dog attendance as needed
- Answering phones as needed
- Prior Experience working in the canine community
- Good oral communication skills
- Ability to follow directions
- Previous work experience demonstrating dependability

Pay: $37,440.00 - $41,600.00 per year
