The Bureau of Meat and Poultry Inspection is seeking to hire an Office Specialist. This position is located in the Springfield office at the Illinois State Fairgrounds. The Bureau of Meat and Poultry Inspection is essential in protecting our food production system. The successful candidate will perform advanced duties in the management of the licensure program for establishments providing meat and meat produts to the public. Receives, screens, and coordinates new and renewal license applications.

Processes requests for the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) received by the bureau.

Manages inventory for the Bureau of Meat and Poultry Inspection

Maintains the Bureau's web page.

Manages the Fleet vehicle management system for the bureau

Receives incoming mail, email and phone calls.

Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to two years of secretarial/business college and one year of office experience, or completion of high school and three years of office experience, or three years of independent business experience. Qualifying state employees in the Upward Mobility Program may complete combinations of specific proficiency tests and training programs leading to a certificate of proficiency in lieu of the stated requirements for this classification.
