Summary:
Troubleshoot, repair, install and test all matters involving electrical devices, fixtures and distribution equipment for commercial and industrial customers.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures that safety is always the highest priority
- Strictly adheres to all company safety policies and requirements
- Contacts Safety Dept. prior to performing work covered by the NFPA 70-E standards
- Organizes and maintains his or her projects in such a manner to ensure successful completion while meeting or exceeding projected profit margins
- Monitors and takes full responsibility for his or her electrical installation and craftsmanship
- Participates in marketing by developing and maintaining a strong rapport with the customers
- Identifies additional electric work that can be completed and encourages customer to allow them to complete the additional work
- Refers inquiries from customers requesting larger contract electrical projects to On-Call Technician duty through the published rotation schedule.
- Arranges for alternate on call person when necessary to cover his or her own shift
- Tracks rental equipment – calls off when appropriate
- Works with Project Specialists, Division Manager and other Service Technicians to coordinate manpower needs
- Thoroughly communicates with Project Coordinator, Project Specialists and Division Manager regarding service call or project status and updates on labor hours accumulated.
- Tracks his or her hours daily
- Receives prior approval from Division Manager for all overtime work
- Coordinates all manpower needs with Service Coordinator or Division Manager
- Provides feedback to Division Manager regarding all relevant matters
- Helps identify customers’ electrical needs over and above the original service request
Requirements:
- Must have minimum OSHA 10 training (or complete within 90 probationary period)
- Must have a comprehensive knowledge of the NFPA 70-E standard, or attend WESC training during 90 day probationary period
- 10 year minimum field electrical experience
- Must exhibit strong leadership skills
- Strong control, industrial and commercial electrical skills
- Strong trouble-shooting skills
- Detail oriented
- Sense of urgency
- Able to complete jobs in a timely and accurate manner
- Must have knowledge of company policies
- Must have working knowledge of division procedures
- Electrical and / or customer service experience preferred
- Must be confident and assertive on phone and in person
- The ability to drive per the requirements of the WESC fleet policy
Knowledge of:
- Alternate methods of installation
- Building code
- NEC code
- Procedures to accurately appraise and inventory system components, evaluate warranty requests and recommend effective maintenance programs
- Wiring systems and how to perform all phases of project installation
- Electrical control work and how to trouble shoot
- Other trades to coordinate subcontracted and adjacent installations
- Material costs to recognize competitive pricing
- Labor durations for all tasks to maintain efficient and timely project completion
- Problem solving and the state of urgency for overcoming any obstacles
- Reading and interpreting blue prints and other construction documents
