POSITION PURPOSE
Assist the Shop Foreman with the fabrication and pre-fabrication of HVAC duct systems
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION AND BASIC DUTIES
FABRICATION PROCESSES
- Fabrication in all areas of the Sheet Metal shop as directed; Coil Line & Fitting Assembly, Roll Form, Liner, and Turning Vane & Hardware.
- Read and interrupt duct labels for material processes.
- Possess all tools to perform work assigned.
- Verify and confirm all shop cut sheets with the proper fabrication specifications and processes.
- Meet and excel production goals set by the Shop Foreman.
- Knowledge and ability to use all related Sheetmetal Fabrication equipment
PRE-FAB PROCESSES
- Assist in the pre-fabrication of HVAC duct systems as directed by Shop Foreman
- Build HVAC duct systems by reading of blueprints and coordinating fabrication components to CAD/manual takeoffs
- Meet and excel prefabrication goals set by the Shop Manager.
TRAINING
- Continued Education and trade-related training in; Coil line, Plasma Table Operations, Duct Fabrication Standards & Duct Fabrication software.
- Attend all safety training classes required
HOUSEKEEPING
- Perform general housekeeping duties as directed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inform Shop Foreman of any problems or concerns related to his/her duties or/and work processes.
- Attend all Sheet Metal Shop safety and production meetings as required
- Follow all Midstate Mechanical employee and safety procedures
- Communicate in a professional manner with co-workers and office personnel.
- Keep track of daily shop inventory by tracking material used
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
PREFERED KNOWLEDGE: Basic understanding of the HVAC industry preferred. Knowledge of related production/fabrication operations.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: No experience to four years in related field.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
FINGER DEXTERITY: Using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.
TALKING: Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or
Important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
HEARING: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
REPETITIVE MOTIONS: Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
VISUAL ABILITIES: Average, ordinary, visual insight necessary to prepare or inspect documents or operate machinery.
PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Exert up to 30 lbs. Of force, bend, climb ladders, and grip hand tools.
WORKING CONDITIONS: In accordance with any hazards related to a construction job site. Extreme summer temperatures.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
