Position Summary:
Genesis HealthCare SM is currently searching for a Deputy General Counsel
to defend and litigate patient care liability cases in New Mexico. The successful candidate will independently litigate cases from the pre-lawsuit phase through the pre-trial phase.
The candidate must be licensed in New Mexico and reside (or willing to relocate) to New Mexico.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage high volume of patient care and general liability matters filed against centers and
corporate entities.
2. Prepare pleadings and motions, attend court hearings, prepare written discovery responses
directed to centers and corporate entities, propound written discovery responses to plaintiffs, and take and defend depositions.
3. Engage in settlement negotiations, attend mediations, and prepare settlement agreements.
4. Conduct preliminary investigations regarding pre-lawsuit matters .
5. Provide training to leadership and staff on litigation and risk management matters.
6. Perform all other duties as requested.
Qualifications:

1. Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school is required.
2. Admitted to the New Mexico Bar with membership in good standing.
3. Minimum 5 years experience as a practicing attorney. Demonstrated expertise and familiarity
with claims handling and litigation.
4. Experience in the long term care arena strongly preferred.
5. Strong legal research and writing skills.
6. Ability to work remotely.

Pay: $150,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
